I used to jokingly introduce myself: "Hi! Nick Jones - Chainsmoker!"

For those not conversant with American slang, 'nic' is short for 'nicotine', which I adapted into the standard shortening of the name 'Nicholas'. 'Nick' is also one of the Devil's many AKAs, which should tell you about my feelings towards organized religion (I'll spare you).

'Jones' comes from ghetto/street slang, probably adapted from junkie slang. ("Going to meet Mr. Jones" meant going to meet one's supplier of drugs.) So 'Jones' implies an addiction or strong craving, as in "I've got a jones for [whatever]"; 'jonesing' is a present tense craving: "I'm jonesing for a cigarette right now."

So "Nick Jones" = "(being a) nicotine addict", or in my case, chainsmoker.
