errr...pink pants?

Recommended Posts

Ok ive been trying to install various body replacers, and for some reason all female underwear is now bright pink (as though theres no texture / model for it)

I have unistalled oblivion, taken all mods, files etc out but its still like it, it all started after installing improved child races and wont go away. Basically im wonderig where I find the body part on the construction set, so I can change this by replacing it with another texture to get rid of this annoying problem.

As i said ive taken all the files, textures and meshes and run it on a clean game with just oblivion running, but its still doing it, anyone know someway to fix this?

Most body replacers, and a lot of stock clothing replacers are exactly that. Replacers. Some of them come with an ESP, some don't. All overwrite Vanilla textures and meshes, or change the default path for those vanilla textures and meshes - so even if the files are still there, the game isn't looking for them, but the replacement ones that you removed, even if the ESPs are no longer installed. Best bet would be to pick a couple of body replacers that you know you like and re-install those, and work from there.

Clothing next, followed be anything else that changes vanilla stuff rather than adding to it.

What I mean is, there just a pink pants covering it up, it doesnt matter what body replacer I use, even on new races the lower body is covered by pink shiny pants that look stupid, and they clip through some clothing.

Anyone know whats causing this?

ive reinstalled oblivion, using just basic vanilla game and the problem is still there with no mods running, I cant understand why im getting this problem.

Now ive got another problem, even when I delete a previous body replacer, and add a new one, the old one still shows up even though theres no files for it to run from.

I think the problem might be im not putting the new files in the correct place, ive tried using Mod manager but still no fix.

Ok ive discovered the source of the problem but cant find a way to fix it, if I take away the files in the meshes/ characters / _male folder the body returns to the vanilla oblivion default models. But if I use ANY bod replacer at all, it returns to a very petite version of females with pink pants halfway through the groin and slightly to the right side of the body (which sticks out of the clothing looking stupid)

I can solve this by removing the femalelowerbody file, which results in two diffferent coloured skins for top and low body.

I need the body replacer for some clothing mods im using, but whatever body replacer I use its always the same model that pops up.

can anyone help please?

Might be a silly question, but it never hurts to ask:

You are ArchiveInvalidating your texture files, right?

Body replacers use new, custom-made body textures because the meshes have been fundamentally altered and no longer correspond to vanilla's body UV maps. So when you use a body replacer, you'll have your .nifs and your .dds files in /meshes and /textures respectively.

The thing is, Oblivion doesn't bother looking for the new textures sometimes. It needs to be forced to look by adding them as entries into the ArchiveInvalidation.txt in the main Oblivion folder. Alternatively, Oblivion Mod Manager has several methods of working around this problem for you.

I was having similar problems today, infact. Adding the entries to ArchiveInvalidation.txt didn't work, but after using OBMM's BSA utility, everything was back to normal. So make sure to try this too.

Let us know if you need additional help with that. Guides should be easy to find though (I haven't looked, but it's a common/basic thing.)

Sorry if you already knew all this; just covering the bases. :)

One suggestion is, delete everything in ArchiveInvalidation.txt, make it an empty file. Then install 'Archive Invalidation Invalidated'.

Thanks for all the help, but still no avail.

First I tried adding the entries to the achiveinvalidation.txt.

These were what I added as this is the only file with the problem) (I have removed the file to test it and without the file it returns to normal models / textures so im 100 perr cent sure its the correct path) :

Meshes/ characters/_Male/femalelowerbody.nif (remember it doesnt matter what file I place here, I have tried eye candy, roberts female, PSG, HGEC and some others I cant remember the names of, but the same model always appears)

Anyway, the same model appear even with that, I have discovered something though, when I save the achiveinvalidation.txt. the FIRST time I open it, that path above is there, but if I run oblivion, then exit and re open achive invalidation, its gone and so are any other file paths ive added (could this be the problem?!) as it doesnt appear to be saving it somehow.

I tried MOD manager (with horrifc results). By following the online guide, I pressed Utilities then ACHIVe invalidation which gives me 4 settings.

The first one BSA Invalidation causes instant crash to desktop on loading a save, (also screwed up MMM monster mod when I did this and was forced to reinstall it)

BAS Alteration, BSA redirection and Universal settings still left the same weird body models there.

I tried the BSA link that someone provided for the other file, and now for some reason the body models are stuck on (as though they are the default ones for oblivion, even removing them from the meshes folder they still show, I unistalled the BSA thing from the link and that got rid of that problem)

However I think its got something to do with the achiveinvalidation file not saving the information. Like I said, up until I run oblivion everything I add to the achive invalidation.txt stays there, no matter how many times I open it, but as soon as oblivion runs, it removes all that I added, so when I exit oblivion and open achiveinvalidation.txt everything is back to an empty file.

If this is the source of the problem, does anyone know anyway to fix it?

It may even be down to something as simple as my computer trying to kill oblivion as some setting somewhere is blocking me from changing this file, although any other file changes seem to stick, just the one for achiveinvalidation. Thanks

EDIT: Ive just removed every mod, all traces including meshes / textures etc, ive added a new file for the lower body mesh, in a new location away from the normal route ( a simple meshes / test/ then the file also renamed).

Using the constuction set (even when no files are in the folders) the construction set shows the pink pants, If I change any models or textures, those newly added models or textures appear alongside the pink pants, which leads me to believe they are coming from somewhere else, like they are hardcoded into the game somehow.

Also unistall and reinstall has no effect, I think ill give up on this one, Ill just have to live with the constant glitching (whihc causes my characters to glicth through their clothes (even if normal clothes not from mods), for some reason equipting a bow causes it to unglitch, but if im in a fight my character freezes and does weird hops on the spot if the seemingly random clothes glitching occurrs) This happens even with no mods and no files running, anyway I give up unless someone knows anything else I can try, thanks again

Update: Ive fixed the problem.

When I reinstalled oblivion on C: Games as a new location I then copyed the old meshes etc to the new location, it came up with

"There are 16 recovery shadow files in oblivion / data / meshes/ characters/_male, do you want to retrieve these files", pressing no and the files dont appear.

Now I can use any replacers I want, I think, somehow the files were replacing the game body models constantly, and being hidden from view there was no way for me to delete them.

How this happened I dont know, but I remember it asking me this when I updated oblivion to the lastest patch, at that time I said yes to that. So perhaps it was a failed update from the patch or just due to some corruption somewhere, either way ive got the game working again, but im never changing body replacers again, not for that much trouble or how good any mod is that requires them.

Thanks for all the help people

although the only problem I encountered with saying no was that all the files in the meshes dissappeared, even from other mods. So had to basically re install every mod, but thats easily done.
