Fast Travel Is Not Cool Enough

someone may have already posted this i didnt want to look thru the whole forum, but what would DEFINATELY make this game better is have silt striders or maybe horse drawn carriages at certain locations which you can use to travel to set points over the map for a small charge, much like morrowind. and it should use boats along the rivers as well as make use of the boats already placed along the rivers for travelling as well... fast travel i think is just a bit too much, you can pretty much go anywhere at any time. its a shame bethesda was too lazy to do this in the first place... fast travel was just about the easiest thing they could have possibly done.

I think there was a thread challenging people to make stilt striders or something similar, but since you can't make new models the point is moot for now. Horse-drawn carriages would be cool though :)

To an extent I agree with you about this, however, Fast travel is sooo much more convenient than set travel points. Now that I've expererienced it, I don't want to go back.

The above point has even more validity when you consider how long it takes to get to some of the ruins/dungeons/locations in the game - now imagine being forced to go all the way back again. I rest my case.

I suppose that makes fast travel cooler then, doesn't it?

alright

first- you have to explore all before you can go everywhere

which tells u probably only heard about major cities.

second-everyoe in morrowind was whining because the fast travel was too limited

i think people really dont know what they want on this forum and are just complaining to complain (maybe to make sense to their lives which is sad)

Not sure as I see too much difference. For cities, a map marker replaces the mages guild teleporter or silt strider. Time passes when you use it in the same way. Outside towns a map marker replaces oral directions but you still have to make your way there. Fast return is pretty much the same as using recall or intervention. A couple of places in MW were not linked by transport - Tel Fyr, Ald Velothi etc. There are villages in Oblivion like (? Sp) Hackdirt similarly unlinked. Only time FT makes much difference is if you can use a discovered marker to get close to an undiscovered one and that's not so bad IMO.

When i travel i just jump on my horse and start riding.

when, if, i get board, wishing i was already where im going, then i fast travel.

it's like jumping ahead to the next scene.

when i arrive my horse is there with me just like we made to whole trip.

so for me the fast travel seems pretty natural.

Well, I don't know. Using fast travel makes me feel like a cheater, so I don't use it unless I'm testing a mod that requires me to be somewhere (after I make sure it works I re-load a previously saved game).

It doesn't really matter to me, I just don't use it - always run everywhere (gotta get in my excercise ;)).

That was uncalled for.

There are Mage's Guild's in every city. It would be far easier to mimic Morrowind's mage's guild transportation and its possible that its already under development.

Now if only autosave wouldnt corrupt and I could worry a bit less...
