If I'm correct, than there could be an invisible barrier that takes you to a different worldspace automatically. I believe this is possible, since I think one .esp of the Immersive Caves does something like this. If im wrong, please let me know.

For Example: Swimming to a another province worldspace by hitting a teleportation barrier or something.

Wait, isn't what he's talking about just a trigger box?

Those work on the player, NPCs, and creatures.

I mean a kill box will kill anything that walks into it,

so shouldn't you be able to make a trigger box that

when triggered would transport whatever reference

walked into it?

Yes, that's all possible. What Argomirr refers to that if you would go trough and the NPC would be following you, like a follow package or just being in combat with the player..they will not go trough the portal. If you make that portal a door and ADD a triggerbox that will transport anyone automatically, you might use it without a problem as the NPC could use the door instead.

An automatic door can do it too, and still be used by NPCs if needed.

The reason why this isn't done more often is because you still have a loading screen during the transition, and requiring the player to pass through a specific point to initiate the change. Both rather limit the number of places where it would be more practical instead of a doorway you can see. Having the exit point of this transition being fixed to a single location also prevents lining a whole worldspace border with such doors.
