Just What I've Found While D/l Stuff

I've found that the downloads are rather fast. The page loads, however, are slow. Downloads are VERY fast for me. I have downloaded larger files faster than a page will load. I can only think that it has to do with accessing info from multiple sources. (ie: downloading one file from one place vs loading pages with ads and other sources of info that need to be displayed in the page) Personally I'm always inclined to blame MS and ads, in that order. Yet, I must admit I have no reason to assign blame on anything or anyone. If you've tracked me, you'll see that I've downloaded a lot of things just today.

 

I've got 100 Mps (that's an ideal measure of course) via hughes (satellite not cable), just for your tech info needs.

Well, it says files larger than 2MiB are hosted on another server. I suspect most of your downloads have fit within this range. In other words, probably you're just getting better speeds because the download server has better bandwidth (or perhaps this server is just being pushed that hard?) You can probably test this by finding some stuff less than 2MiB and downloading a few things that way.

The page loads are slow since the server is having to deal with hundreds of requests. Downloads are fast since they don't require CPU resources to serve :)
