What happened?

Was snappier last year.
And considering how you've expanded into other games, you should have more than enough servers to cope with the load. Although I doubt you got millions of people browsing nexus simultaneously.

Takes 3 years to load images on the mod pages too.

A couple thousand new users all at once is what happened. It's the steam sale and the discounts on several moddable games bloating the average numbers several fold. Be patient, things will likely be back to normal next month.

Never a good idea to make your one and only premium purchase the same month as the Steam sales.

The amount of traffic we get is multiplied two or three times our regular amount and it does have a major drain with that amount of people trying to connect all the time.

Then why do you not prepare.

Site has been slow ever since around February 2014.

It was actually rather quick during wintersale, so I dont know why you blame it on steam sales.

Hello to all our new members.

Quick? In December of last year during the Steam winter sale? It really, really wasn't. We were struggling horribly with the aftermath of the move we did in December to the new database cluster and the site was barely even up at all. If you go back through the news archive you'll see as much from all the news posts I made at the time detailing the issues we were going through. Please don't talk rubbish.

Similarly, new registrations peaked at 10,000 during the Steam winter sale while, as you can see, we've peaked at 16,800 in the Steam summer sale thus far. So a 68% increase in traffic since the last Steam sale in which the sites were barely up. Last year's Steam summer sale saw a peak of 8,500 new registrations, so we're seeing close to double the new registrations compared to last year. Hate as much as you want, but things are, and will continue to be, getting better in spite of the increasing traffic and bandwidth demands on our network.
