AlienSlof
I tweak and merge mods all the time. I have over 150 male clothing and armour mods (including some of my own) merged into a mere 8 tidier ones. While doing this, I change any free-issue stuff to being sold in a shop or put onto a hostile NPC so my boy has to fight for the goodies. I understand why many of these foreign modders do the free issue thing; it avoids language conflicts. I also edited the Apachii Heroes Store, one of my favourite mods, to remove the female vendor and clothing, as I neither use HGEC, nor play females. Seeing the huge boobs in my game was just not my thing! I used to do the same thing with Morrowind as well, I used a daedric house mod for my main character - it had all female guards, so I changed them to mixed, including dremora. Then there are the more public tweaks I do with permissions, such as male conversions of female-only armours and clothes. Tweaking is a good way to tailor a good mod to one's personal taste. Iapetus
I usually open up mods to look at how they did something. If they have some crazy effect, or really nice room or something, I really can't resist the temptation to see how they did it.
xxXEvandarXxx
When I edit something, I usually try to improve bad quality meshes and/or textures. It's a disappointing to see an awesome sword ruined by a small detail, or a huge mod which uses blurry, miscolored 512x512 textures. razorpony
As slof said, if you have a lot of mods that add a single set of armor, it can tidy things up a lot to consolidate them into one esp or omod. I like to take any dark or sinister looking armors and distribute them among my brothers and sisters in the Dark Brotherhood. I'll also make copies of each armor and place them all in a chest within the samctuary, giving my character a choice between armors, both enchanted and non. Some mods need to be delayed in my opinion. For example, Saidenstorms Akatosh mount is an awesome mod but gaining a summonable dragon right out of the sewers is a bit overpowering. Instead, I attached the script to the Imperial Dragon Cuirass. This makes the armor actually worth owning and gives me a nice little prize for completing the main quest. -Razorpony
