New Laptop

Recommended Posts

Yeah, but I want portability.

But, if you say so.............

Can a mod close this please?

For the price of the m17x, you could buy a smaller, still capable laptop as well as a good desktop system (just the case and everything inside).

Just saying...

I'd be half-tempted to buy a moderately capable laptop myself if I had the money to spend. I wouldn't necessarily want to keep any games, mods, or other stuff on that laptop, but it would give me the ability to work from anywhere and just transfer data to a stationary source regularly, which is kinda the point of even having the laptop in the first place. You probably aren't going to want to sit down in the hallway, load up Oblivion with your collection of nude mods, ect and have some passer-by make some uninformed assumptions. You'd want to keep anything that is seen on that laptop specifically to type D content* just so it doesn't end up coming back to haunt you.

*Type D content is basically defined as anything which is suitable for a public performance/general family situation and does not contain any trace of adult rated material, potentially offensive content, immoral content, and is within the line of what is typical within your demographic. The key difference between Type D and Type E content is less leniency toward content which is atypical of your demographic (even under false protest), and the allowance for more intellectual subject matter which might not be understood by the audience, but would still be acknowledged in a better than neutral light. CSPAN is a perfect example of Type D content.

Point being that having your whole life on a portable device can often be a very bad idea.

Well, what I planned was to have a laptop that could run games, yet still be able to do stuff like work / assignments.

But the reason I thought up ''I might get a laptop'' is that I only get to use the computer very early in the mornings (about 6 to 8 ) because I have a teenage sister :verymad:

Anyway, as long as I have a computer that I can do my assignments on, I'll be happy.

If you're just looking for a computer of your own then definately go for a desktop instead. You can get yourself a much better system for much less money than a gaming laptop. Use the money you save to buy yourself a stonking 5.1 surround sound system, a comfy seat, two monitors and a decent mouse and mat ;)
