Edeldios
Ever wonder why you can go into a cave or ruins and you slaughter dozens of unnamed bandits but you can walk into a town you've never been to and every person has a name even before you've met them? In real life you walk down the street never learning the names of most of the people you see until you've introduced yourself and had a bit of conversation. Why should skyrim be any different? Could be a simple mod that masks NPCs names until you talk to them. For Example: Your new character walks into Whiterun for the first time, until you actually walk up and talk to her Ysolda simply shows up as Nord Woman. Not only would this add an element of realism to the game it would help you keep track of quests, if you are in a city and the npc doesn't have a name yet they still need to be talked to. And keeping it as a name masker could incorporate any npcs added by mods as well.
RaktoastTheSandwichTopper
maybe a new dialogue option of what's your name at which point it renames the npc from joe blow to rogvir
GilgameshWulfenbach
I really like this idea. Please, if someone knows how, do this.
mlee3141
I'll see what I can do. It would be a good starter project to help me get better at modding.
AlduinWorldEater
Following this. It would add a little more challenge to quests that tell you to "find so-and-so in such-and-such location". You'd have to talk around a little, chat it up, plan your next move.
