Crashing at startup - Load order problems?

Recommended Posts

EDIT - Updated load order. Game runs normally, but freezes very often. The freezes aren't desktop crashes, but the game's screen locks while sound still plays. I tried the multicore fix, as well as adding d3d9.dll to the Fallout 3 goty directory. Any insight to this would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, so everything seems to run normally, save for the game crashing very often. Not the "Fallout 3 has stopped working" crashes, but the kind where the screen freezes, but sounds and music still plays. Is there any reason for that? Or are my mods incompatible? I also installed DC Interiors since then.

do you have the multicore fixes enabled in the fallout.ini ? freezing occurs very often if you don't have them in your .ini file

Is that the fix where you set bUseThreadedAI=0 to 1, and then add iNumHWThreads=2 after that? I just downloaded the text file for that fix, and am trying it now.

yes, you need to change these lines in your fallout.ini to prevent multi-core processors from freezing your game (today all processors are multi-core, back when fallout 3 was released those were still a minority lol), you can further improve your fallout.ini and falloutprefs.ini files when looking for fallout ini tweaks with google, but always take a backup first, it's easy to lose track of what you change if you don't keep a backup. Also whatever you read, never increase the uigrids above their standard value of 5, because that is the devil, seriously, don't.
