Problem after installing new graphics card

Okay, like the title said, I installed a graphics card so I could actually run Fallout 3. After installing the graphics card and drivers, I tried to start Fallout. When it started, it said that Fallout 3 wasn't installed. So I uninstalled Fallout, and attempted to reinstall. It gave me a strange error and crashed. Here is the error.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

R6034

An application has made an attempt to load ATL80.DLL incorrectly.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I'm running an Inspiron 530 with windows Vista.

Thanks in advance.

What you report is indeed very strange, a video card should not mess with the register data. Probably it was something else that happened in the while.

You must make sure the game is correctly uninstalled before attempting the reinstall. It should be done running the setup.exe in your DVD (avoid using the windows uninstaller to it). Making sure the /data is clean as the game folder found in the C:Documents too is a good idea since some data are preserved there that can prejudice the install cleanness.

bben46 has a good tutorial which tells step by step the better way to do it. Hope he see this thread and come along to point you to it.

Good the advice from pkleiss too. Although the game install the runtime itself it may be good idea to reinstall the original in case the former (what you already have in your machine) is corrupted someway.
