sure. nobody ELSE reads this.

i took a lot of things personally. the participation level mostly.

i did a poll a little while ago about whether or not the challenges should be pinned every week, but it flopped. most people answered "challenges suck" (it was an option along with "no, it should have its own FORUM", "pinnage sucks", "sucking sucks" or somthing along that last line.

then out of nowhere some dolt goes and posts his own challenge offering a REWARD (still not much of a reward, but one nonetheless.). i took it as an offence against me. my own personal hate crime.

and i have no clue why.

heh. Sounds like a bit of frustration. Don't listen to the folks who say "challenges suck" anyways, cuz they're not the ones that you're gearing the challenges toward. And I have an idea, maybe the challenges should be more massive, like making a whole new island with its own storyline and everything, to really get the modding community going. Heck, why not even challenge modders to make the best TC? That would keep 'em busy for sure.

And I don't know the point I'm trying to get at, so I guess we're both just lost souls.

Well I agree to some of that, but in my opinion it's to difficult.

But if you take it bit by bit it's sure a good idea.

I might be abel to script something like a flaming wall, if I used a week or to, but then I would include it in a mod of my own, not for competition.

If you take a look in the plugin/tes forums, most people ask really basic questions, like how to build a house etc...

My suggestion is that you try to get the starting modders to join, by making it more simpel. And only one thing each time.

Start out whit e.g "build the land" next week "add a house" 3 "add a npc" 4 "dialog"

And add a link for a tutorial on how to do.

Then in time it can be made more and more difficult, whit avanced scripting, dialog,

quest and retexturing.

Sure it would be easy for the skilled modders the first many rounds.

But I think that most skilled modders are working on their own projekts, and don't want to use a lot of time on competition.

However if they can make something fast and easy, then they probaly would.

Just my opinion.

But nomatter what, don't stop the competition Spudnik.

I did have a look at the competitions, but at first they seemed to be mainly for modellers....

The last competition I saw announced had a good variety of challenges, but it all looked very time-consuming - and I just didn't have that time.

How about setting some really short challenges as well, like

- funniest greeting you get from an NPC

- funniest way to dress up Fargoth

- most idosyncratic custom class (like an orc pickpocket with an interest in ballet-dancing)

- most imaginative enchanted item (name counts too!)...you could specify the kind of item, or the kind of enchantment

I could probably find time to submit entries for mini-competitions like that.
