Weird Upload Bug

Timeslip

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I released a new version of my hdr lighting mod. I updated the version number, made a couple of changes to the description and updated the file. When I clicked submit, no errors were reported, but when I tried to download the mod I ended up with an old version of the file. (very old - I'd updated from 0.4 to 0.5, but the file I received was 0.1 - the first one I'd released.)

I thought that maybe I'd done something stupid and uploaded the wrong file, so I changed the version number to 0.6, reuploaded the 0.5 file, downloaded it, and this time I ended up with the right file.

Now I just released a new version, and it did exactly the same thing again. I don't even have a copy of the old file, so I know I didn't just upload the wrong file, plus the version number in the file name is wrong. (The file I downloaded was called '1635-0-1-Fake HDR lighting-TESSource.zip')

I increased the version number to 0.8, reuploaded the same file, and now it's working again. (The file I downloaded this time was called '1774-0-8-Fake HDR lighting-TESSource.zip')

So basically, every other update TESsource seems to be replacing my file with the original 0.1 version.

Oblivion mod manager just did the same thing. After trying to upload 0.5.8, TESsource replaced it with a copy of 0.5.6. Changing the version number to 0.5.8-1 and reuploading the same file fixed it again.

If this uploading bug isn't restricted to just my HDR mod, then it's likely that many other newly updated oblivion mods have also been replaced with older versions.

I will take a look.

EDIT: I've just tried it out and it seems to be fine.

I uploaded a new mod.

Checked the download.

Worked.

Edited the mod with a new file.

Checked the download.

New file was there.

Edited the mod again and changed the version number.

Checked the download.

New file was there.

I'm don't know why it is doing it for you.

Looks like I'm not the only one this is happening to. The same thing just happened to the save manager. From the looks of this thread, it seems that it's happened to them before too.

[censored], looks like TESSource did it again. Occasionally when you upload a new file, it doesn't overwrite the old one, it rolls back to an old version for some bizarre reason. FIXED! REDOWNLOAD NOW!

Edit: Completely off topic, but can you please make .omod an accepted file extension for mods? They are compressed already, so having to zip them before uploading seems a bit of a waste, and in some cases ends up increasing their size.

Just had this happen to me - tried to update my Detect Hostility Spell Suite to version 2.0, and it didn't take. Also just noticed that version 1.3 didn't take either. Not sure when I tried to upload that version off the top of my head.

Everything else seems to be updating fine - just not the file itself.

Regards,

EDIT: Silly me - here's the link: Detect Hostility

It's happened to me again - obmm this time. Tried to update to 0.6.2 from 0.6.1, and ended up with 0.6.0. Trying to reupload 0.6.2 without changing the version number gave a '2xxx-0.6.2-oblivion mod manager-TESsource.zip' file already exists error, (cant remember the exact number - it didn't really have an xxx in,) so the file is definately there. When I try to download it, I end up with '2093-0.6.0-Oblivion mod manager-TESSource.zip'

I've changed the description to warn that it's an old version and left the file up there there for you to take a look at. Changing the description without reuploading the file didn't affect anything - it's still 0.6.0 being given out.

Edit: I've taken the broken file back down to get 0.6.3 up. I don't want to leave something with known bugs in if it's not going to be useful for anything. :glare:

Once again, trying to upload obmm 0.6.4 knocked me back down to 0.6.0.

Are you any closer to fixing this? I'm not the only one experiencing it; I've seen quite a few posts around the offical forums complaining that people have accidently uploaded the wrong version of their mods to TESsource. I'm guessing that this bug is to blame.
