Can't start new game

Okay, so here's what happened: my little brother somehow got into my computer and started smashing keyboard randomly and obviously *banned* up my Oblivion folder. I ended up uninstalling the game, and losing my mods and saves. Now I have reinstalled the game including all the mods I used to have. Game starts normally and gets to the menu, but I can't start a new game (nor load old one, as I lost my saves). When I click the button that says 'New' the confirmation windom pops up as it should - however when I press 'Yes' nothing happens. Exept the window disappears and I remain on the main menu. No crash, no error - nothing.

 

Also, here's the list of mods I'm running in case it helps:

placing the load order instead just the names may help identify the troubles. I notice you have some mods that need OBSE you didn't say you installed and is loading from.

 

The former Oblivion.ini may have survived and is causing troubles, you should find it in the C:\(my) Documents\....\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini and delete it, the game will build a freshen one. The same is valid if someway something survived in the former /data (if something at all survived there and the directory was not completely deleted. Maybe it was just made "hidden" and not removed as you initially thought).

 

The steps above may be enough to let you start the game. If not, consider removing ALL mods and certify the original game is patched fully and working, and afterward install one mod at a time and test.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I run Oblivion with OBSE always - but the problem is solved now. I checked the data folder and there were some old files that prevented the game from running as it should. Thanks for helping me out, the game works like a charm now.
