Do You Think There Should Be More Moves..

I originally wanted to post this in the "Polls" forum, but i felt kinda strange about doing it, as i only saw polls from Poll-Manager..

But yeah.. Switch and i were talking, and i wanted to bring the question to the Forum.

I feel that the movements in Oblviion are extremely limited.. Sure, there is much elasticity to your character, but they still seem less then human.. How do i imean? Well, Wouldn't a normal human be able to do more hand to hand damage by kicking their opponents, throwing them, etc?

Would a stealth character find him-or-herself barely seen if he or she had the ability to roll from shadow to shadow, sneak on rooftops, flip down off of them for a quick stealth kill, swing from treebranch to an open window, grab what they want, then do an awesome backflip off the sill, down onto the ground?

And should a Mage-like Character be able to incorporate dialogue a la Neverwinter Nights into her spells? Should there be more spells, as in, controlling the weather, a la Mists of Avalon, shooting magick from their fingertips, such as lightening, a la Hocus Pocus?

These are all things i would like to see in the next Elder Scrolls game, if they make one, since Oblivion is so successful. It may take them up to five years to do so, and since technology and computers will be a lot more advanced then, i think, i would be very suprised if they do not have those types of movements.

What do you think?

Completely. I think that even with todays technology sucj animations are possibel - look at Splinter Cell for your stealth moves, NN as you site for the mage stuff, and, er - you know come to think of it, I can't think of a decent hack 'n' slasher of recent years on which to base the fighters stuff. Still, it should be possible to add in exciting new animations to the game, the engine permitting. Just give us the tools Bethsoft!

But to answer your question, the next ES game will definitely have all this stuff in. But for now, I'm going to dive back into the Oblivion.

*nods* aye.

It's like, Vampire: The Masquerade has better hand to hand moves then Oblivion, and Metal Gear Solid 2 has better stealth moves, we should be able to crawl through tall grass, for godssake.. i mean, come on, Bethsoft.. lol..

It's like, they keep impoving everything, fluidness of movements, body meshes, and etc, but they still have much to improve..

And is the reason why i didn't see a dog in that game yet is because of that woman casting flare on one? And how much did that little segment of the video screw up their reputation? (bethsofts) and also, how much did it screw up the game? Is the reason i have never been invited upstairs, the reason i can't even see anyone eat(!!!) is because of that little clip? I mean, PETA must have been pissed.. and i was too, but for a totally different reason..

It's like, uh, this is supposed to be humour, it's a friggin GAME for Brighid's sake!! If anyone should be mad, as i also told Switch, it should be us Druids, the ones who have the best contacts with Nature, not some extremist from PETA.. i mean, my sister, who is also a druid, and i were watching the video, we were chuckling.. we didn't get mad at all..

But of course, people like Mother's against Violence, or some equally stupid org, had to go and screw things up.. probably picketing in front of Bethsofts headquarters, trying to tell people to not by the game, restricting their kids, who are like, 13-16 from playing because of the 'cruelty to animal's' and such..

Man.. lol..

I think they should have made a bit more variety to the expert and master bonusses for fighting skills. Although the animations are different, what they do is all the same! Whether you are expert in blade or blunt , the expert move knocks opponents down, and the master can disarm them. At least, i think those were the bonusses. If not, the only thing i know is that they are the same.

Definitely more moves. Oh and as for fighting and stealth check out Prince of persia The Two Thrones... Sheesh these things he does... Like an olympic athlete plus swordmaster plus plus plus....Anyway since you guys can play oblivion you should be able to run POPT2T. So go get, borrow it whatever and simply marvel at the animations. I don't expect these things from Oblivion but something like this would be great...

Yes, i am also a big Prince of Persia fan. I have beaten the first two, have yet to beat the third.

But in response to the prior poster regarding the Expert and Master special moves, yeah, i agree.. i mean, i have yet to become a Master Bow Mage (Bow mage is a class i created, it deals with using a bow as your only weapon, sneaking to get around, and destructive magick when things get rough. Stealth class.) But i have seen the discriptions of the specialty moves whilst the game was loading..

I wonder how an arrow could disarm someone though..

An arrow through an arm would certainly make me drop my sword. But then, if you were that accurate with a bow you wouldn't be aiming at my arm.

I agree with Povuholo, they should have added more variety to the animations. And PoP is a good example of cracking battle animations whilst still keeping a simple interface.

yep new moves would be something quite refreshing... not only for the higher levels of skills.

lets look through possible candidates:

pop ww and t2t shoulb be quite impressive source of moves for melee oriented chars (especiall if taking into consideration the acrobatics skill - it would get another meaning), yet even sneak mode could profit from a little copy of those moves...

similarly for the sneaky stealth kills you could also look at tenchu series...

for the sneak moves mgs and sc, probably with hitman and even (and mostly) thief (check the deadly shadows ;-) ).

another perfect example of actions available for the player - check the Forgotten realms demon stone - the game where one can see all three examples of moves - for melee char, for sneaky pc and for "charming" mage ;-)

and finally for fighting moves - check a few games such as VtM Bloodlines, MK Deception, SoulCalibur 1-3... isn't that enough???

this galleries of moves is really quite impresive in all that games. i'm really quite disappointed that oblivion has so little to offer...

and another thing - this game somehow really sucks - being a skillfull marksman i really miss the shooters possibilities - especially if one can see that the game is based on halflife2 engine as i believe - so why no hit-zones - whatever i hit with my arrow - either it is the big ass of an ogre or his tiny little head the effect is the same... it's really a drawback as with the melee weapons - i really miss the chance to seethose enemies hurt with bleeding arms - as it happenned when you got yourself shot in some of the shooters (eg max payne 1&2). and what was in hitman, sc or thief - headshot = death. when you hit elsewhere enemy was only a little harmed...

and again - one more thing for the stealth kills - i still even believe that stealth kills you could see in kain's saga of "legacy of kain" - exactly the blood omen 2 (yes it's old but still has a lot oto offer) and the last addition to the series... (those magnificent stealth kills especially with bare hands). almost that good as with the VtM Bloodlines cited here before...

ok, that's my little opinion ;-)

I agree... About LoK though i still do not consider it an equal to POP T2T. The reason: ever seen the prince hang from above, drop behindhis eenemy and slice open hs spine? or better yet when changed to dark prince and strangles his opponents with the dagertail? (although my best one is when he places his foot behind his enemys neck, starts strangling the guy and end up decapitating him hahaha!!! really funny). That's beside the point though. I do not expect pop moves in a tes game because they are of different genre (action versus rpg) however i do expect more moves than a total of 13-15 animations of which active can be only about 8! Imean come on!!! That's pathetic! No tricky moves and most of all the weapons do not display their difference. e.g the dagger attcks just like a longsword or a katana! COme on you can't possibly use adai-katana like a claymore! The katana will break! If bethsoft is reading this: get down to programming dammit!!!! make more animations! we hav too high standards to be satisfied with these!
