desicantia
Is there anything like QTP3 etc., for Fallout 3? Total overhauls of that insane level of detail and quality? If not, what's the closest thing? THanks.
GrandsonOfSam
I think the closest thing to a Total Overhaul is to use Project Beauty (NPC:s) with FOOK2 (Weapons, armors and more), and add the Texture Packs from NeilMc (Megaton, Rivet City and other textures). Getting PB and FOOK2 to work together seamlessly will need a FOIP patch and some tinkering though. I myself have left PB out, but I prefer vanilla content anyway if it's good enough (and NPC:s are about the only thing that doesn't really need changing in my opinion) ;)
desicantia
Thanks, I'll have a look at those. Anything else that would complement those?
Ghogiel
well tbh besides whats already been mentioned, there isn't a whole lot else. I created a texture- most textures aren't done very well. particularly the normal mapping, often try to rely on using massive resolutions to cover weak textures, scaling issues, compression artifacts, noisey over bumped normal maps, or lazyness. yes it's a hell of a lot of work to put together a nice set, I get that. but more often than not, I'm disapointed, as I know I could do better in most cases if I bothered. I made this one as an example, kinda trying to set the bar, demonstrating how it should be done if you will. It's technically a replacer for one of NeilMc's textures. funnily, I made this one before I saw this thread and knew about Neilmc's work-we both made a similar texture using the same base resources. when I started this project, I did search nexus for retextures, landscape, and it didn't come up. anyway, you can have that now. I do intend to work on a few select textures when I'm bored of :wallbash: trying to get ragdoll and constraints working... and then make a very limited little tex replacer. I included a quick random brick replacer as well, I really didn't like Neilmc's one. But mine was never intended to replace the vanilla one. but it looks pretty decent. using it is up to u. the resolutions are 1024 dxt1 diffuse, 1024 8888 normal. so quite detailed! just overwright with these. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HQEMJT5Zpics-http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/image.php?id=11571http://www.fallout3nexus.com/imageshare/image.php?id=11570 enjoy
GrandsonOfSam
I know there are no real high-detail texture packs for the world, which is kindof weird, as it's something you see all the time everywhere (being world textures). I myself use the 512x512 textures of NeilMc, as there really isn't that much difference to the 2048x2048, other than eating up my Graphics Card's memory :D And on top of that, if one uses higher AA settings than 4 or 6x, the textures WILL look the same, whatever their resolution is, unless you look at them VERY closely. A high quality texture pack would be very popular though, and I would be among the first ones to download it :)
