3 Wheels On My Wagon...

How many of you are interested in cars, bikes, etc?

Are wheels for you a passion, or just a means of getting from A to B?

What (and how) do you drive, and what would be your ultimate dream machine?

I drive a MINI Cooper, and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.....

For me, a car is a means of getting from A to B when it's too far to walk and public transport is either non-existent (eg late evenings) or impractical (eg carrying the weekly grocery shopping).

My ultimate transport dream? A sustainable, sane, infrastructure where there is absolutely no need for private cars any more.

I try to use the car as little as possible - I'm very aware of using up ever diminishing resources (even in a car that's very fuel efficient compared to some) and of contributing to environmental pollution, congestion etc each time I drive.

IMO, the sooner our society's love affair with the internal combustion engine ends, the better.

I agree with Theta. Although, for me public transportation is not usually an option so we string multiple errands together as often as possible, and car pool. I live in a resort area that has no public transportation until summer time, and then the trafic is so heavy you may as well walk, it's actually faster! We have two 4 cylander cars, which are very good on mileage. I do have a Van for work, an old 1984 8 cylander big block. But that isn't answering the question I suppose. I have a secret fetish on late 60's american muscle cars :) Hopefully someday we will switch to ethanol here in the states..then I would like to convert a muscle car into a Hybrid electric/ethanol conversion. Someday...

You ride your parents Vaanic? That is a little unfair of you. But perhaps it is better than them riding you as most parents seem to have a tendency to do to their kids. Me, I live in central London where a car is a liability (parking, congestion charge etc.) If I need on,e I hire one. But in London public transport is usually satisfactory.

Heeheehee :D

I have no especial interest in cars, although I do like Top Gear. Whilst I'm amused by rating a road-going car on its acceleration, top speed, and handling around break-neck corners, I have to say that some of the features they do are funny, especially the races. Racing a train in an Aston Martin Vanquish, a boat in a MacLaren SLR (damn thats a good-looking piece of engineering), and a plane in some ridiculous car that looks like a bullet and has 12 turbochargers has a fair bit of entertainment value 8)

I've only recently got a car, but I still don't have my license so I can't drive it solo. I either take public transport or, more often, walk to where I want to go. I don't see why I should drive a car three miles and get there in ten minutes when I could walk it in thirty minutes.

Yeah - those were my favourite parts of the show too

Unless I am mistaken, is there not an unmentionable in the title of this thread? :D I suppose given the context of the topic we could let it slide....(ie: 2 strikes for karkarinus instead of a full ban...)
