Best Antivirus

It's best to use just one that actively scans on the fly. Any Antivirus will slow the computer down some, but 2 at once will slow it a lot. A second that only scans on demand - such as Malwarebytes can be used when you think there may be a problem.

I have been using the free version of Avira for quite a while now. It is consistently rated one of the best free antivirus programs.

I was using that before. Had a few things which it actually didn't catch and the ad popup when updating created some problems. It's mostly rated higher since it's a newcomer that hasn't had all its exploits figured out.

The reality is that almost every legitimate antivirus software works about the same and shares information about signature based threats. As more common viruses, like trojans fall into this category, all of them impart a decent level of security for normal usage. The difference between one antivirus and another is really all about how it detects new viruses based on heuristics, and what other protections and features it offers. A strong heuristic algorithm is important for those people who tend to either browse in higher threat areas (like porn, facebook, myspace) or whose who often make use of 3rd party tools, riskware, and other things which are released from a non-official source. A good application scanner doubles the benefit of a good heuristic algorithm as the files being used are scanned not only when you are checking your system, but also whenever you try to run it. Meaning that if you downloaded something which silently made hostile changes to a commonly used program, and it was missed initially, it might be caught that second time. A good firewall helps prevent live threats, like worms, dialers, and live hacking by detecting these attempts and shutting them down, but can also prevent known applications from sending or receiving data without your permission. So, simply put, there is no best, only what works well for you and your own security needs.

Thanks to all ! I've removed my Security Tool problem and going to check all those suggestions (I've checked some). Probably I'm going to check Comodo and Avira.

P.S : Is using a few antivirus is a good idea ?

No, it's not, It'll slow down your computer way too much, and one AV is fine and enough.

I've tried microsoft essentials and its a cpu hog, one thing i like about Kaspersky is it uses very little cpu and ram, unlike ms's version, AVG is a great freeware Antvirus but you have scan at least once a weak for it to be effective.

I've been using Avast for a couple of years now, after switching from avg (it got bloated and stupid) and I've been very happy with it. In addition I use Malwarebytes as well as I'm paranoid and you can never have TOO much protection... just my 2 cents =)

Does anyone knows what's the best antivirus program.
The absolute all-time best? Easy...the best antivirus program is that squishy stuff between your ears.

#1 - You gotta play smart while using your computer

#2 - You need to have a good "backup" antivirus solution and I use Comodo Internet Security.

I also put together an article you guys/gals might like to read: How To Protect Your PC

You can try Panda Cloud, but I'd only suggest using it on a freshly installed computer, as it catches most easily enough, but can have a few hassles when trying to remove virusses that are already there.

The only reason I'm not using it is because it has these annoying popups whenever a virus is neutralized which, if you click on where the popup is when playing a game, will minimize the entire game. And there's no way to turn them off.

Comodo is the pack that is free and has a full range of protection. I have used Suite's before and they slowed my systems down, punished me by cancelling the virus protection one day before paying for the next years subscripition, and made me miserable when trying to figure out how to set up the firewall for online gaming. Comodo is my recommended one since it will alert you to every possible change in your system you. Some things it finds suspicious just because the software is unknown to it and you may not even know the company who provided the computer software doesn't not realize has heurisitic virus probabilities. Comodo, I find, has a very extensive set up and if you know what all those tweaks can do you will have a very powerful, and kind to your computer, suite of tools.
