Report a file question...

I have recently been browsing through random mods, mainly looking for less popular unkown ones to try. I have noticed that like 10% of the nexus is mods that have sat there untouched for like 6-12 months. I was curious, should I report all these? Or just ignore it? I figured it would be good for you guys to clear up room by deleting all those untouched ones that have been discontinued. But I dont want to run around reporting a bunch of files unnecisarily. Should I report these untouched files for cleaning, or just ignore them?

Why delete old mods? Even if it's old or untouched like you said some people might download them, tomorrow, next week, next month or even next year. We don't usualy report files unless the files are stolen, pirated, broken or just garbage that has no use. Moderators do a very good job removing those or banning those who upload garbage. :turned:

No I'm talking about very old mods, that dont add anything really. Just the ones nobody ever downloads, that people have dicontinued, and are sitting there rotting holes in the servers. Not the olderish mods that still add some good things. I figured I should ignore them, but wasnt sure if the admins would rather I report them.

What do you mean with untouched? No comments, no updates, changes?

Hmmm, I have myself mods which haven't been updated for round about a year. One, which got no comment I just deleted. By another one I'm thinking about, should I delete it?

E.g. this Mod realy seems to interest noone :D

But sometimes it's not necessary to update or improve anything, maybe except the readme or the typing errors of the file description ...

Because the mod is just stable or finished and the author is pleased with. Or the Author went to another Mod he/she is working on. Sometimes there is a problems which just takes some time to get solved or there is just no time to work on it and so on ...

I think it's OK to keep them, so you still can download these Mods if you like.

But it's on the decission of the site owner ...

If the site admins want to search for old files that never get touched and remove them, they have the tools/ability to do that just as well as you do (likely better). The report function is for mods/posts that violate the site rules, and using it for anything else will just clutter the site admin's worklists with things that don't really need attention.

While I agree that there is a lot of clutter that could be cleaned up, which ones to get rid of would be a very individual to the person looking at them. Also, just because something is old and hasn't gotten much action doesn't mean it isn't good. I've found a few gems that nobody seems to notice.

Cheers,

Vaul

If they delete the old and not popular mods, or even those, who don't seem to have a high quality,

they could close this side at all... only because a mod is popular doesn't mean, that it is better than

another, that only got a couple of downloads. The only mods, that should be deleted are those, that

are placeholders without content, or those, that violante the rules.

Ok. I was talking more about mods that were, for example supposed to add new places, but they kinda made one small half baked place of no value, and thus is just wasting space. But I see what you guys mean, I will simply ignore them. Thanks for all the replies. (though I would still like to hear from an admin)
