On-line Oblivion Arena???

First, yes I know that Oblivion is not, was not designed to be, and will never be a MMPO...

Now that we have that out of the way, I think Bethesda should step up and design an Online Arena. The concept is simple enough. You log into the site, You have already loaded an "official mod" designed to export your character to the site. Then you paruse the bulletin board for upcoming matches, challenges, tournaments, melees, etc...

You enter a "slot" in an upcoming fight, and away you go! It could be governed by some type of "weight class", based on character level or something else. Vanilla equipment, spells, etc; anything you can find, create, or enchant in the vanilla game is allowed.

If you win, you get some kind of prize (dunno here, need ideas). If you lose (die a horrible grizzley death) your character doesn't have to forfeit any equipment. And of course there would be the posted Arena rankings that you would slide up/down.

If you don't feel like jumping in the fight pit, you can always log in and just sit in the balcony. Watch the fights, make a wager, have some fun, etc.

Best part of the fight would be this: REAL TIME. No pausing to change equipment or spells, or equipping poisons. Everything you wanted to do would have to be hot keyed. If you open your inventory gui, your character would basically be helpless until you closed it again.

Surely, someone from Bethesda is on this forum, the invaluable resourse that it is.

What say you?

What you ask is huge... more lines of script that i can imagine, i can imagine quit a bit.

Yes, I realize this. The good news is the type of application has been done before in everything from on-line spades rooms to WoW.

Huge...yes, daunting...yes, but a boy can dream

ever play Battlespire? That had a multiplayer option. Had deathmatch, team, and co-op things you could do. Never played it online though...didn't have Internet way back in 1997 haha. I kind of wonder how popular the game was...that was the same time Half Life came out so I doubt it got very far heh.

An option like that, I suppose, would be neat...but you couldn't mod and Beth would probably have to add DRM or some bullcrap for a multiplayer option.
