harthag
I'm trying to decide on a body replacer mod. Based on the TESnexus Most Endorsed Files of all time, the two most popular body replacer mods are the two listed below: Hentai Gentlemen's EyeCandy Body by RAIAR and Madcat221 and Female EyeCandy - Body Replacer by Exnem I was wondering what the difference is. What makes one more popular than the other? Which one do you prefer and why? Which one has more compatible clothing and armor mods? Etc. In short, which one should I pick and why? Exnem's EyeCandy - OriginalHGEyeCandy - Derived from Exnem's. Basically same UV mapping, but cleaner(still not good to make seamless texture). It means HGEC can use Exnem's EC texture and clothing/armor mod without much issues. Has several body types by default and many variants, from average, 'realistic(there's one, though it's still WIP)', to massive boobs(personally, I'm not fan of such). wizardmirth
HGEC has the most up to date following as far as clothing and armor mods, not that you need them anyway. I prefer Manga at base but clothing for it is going to be a lot harder to find.
harthag
It means HGEC can use Exnem's EC texture and clothing/armor mod without much issues. So clothing and armor mods for Exnem's usually work on HGEC? Does that work the other way around? Do clothing and armor mods for HGEC usually work on Exnem's? Megatarius
HGEC and Exnem's use the same UV maps. Robert's uses entirely different UV maps. If you don't know what that means, it has to do with how the texture is arranged on the surface of the model. What makes something "work" is determined by what UV maps the skin portions use. It's like this: Clothes in the game are not like clothes in real life. They don't fit over the character's skin. They are the character's skin. Imagine if every shirt you owned also contained a copy of your arms. When you put it on, your arms are replaced. If you download super-sexy-anime-chick-scanty-armor mod that has all this skin visible, the game will look at your body mod for the skin texture. Model files (.nif) contain both armor parts and skin parts. These are models, but not textures. You already have the textures on your computer, be they regular or modded, they're there somewhere. So it loads the armor models. Great. You downloaded the textures for those with the mod. Everything looks peachy in the game. BUT When it loads the skin, the mod (and the mod author) is looking for a certain texture. The UV maps of the model determine how the model reads the texture. If the texture file is laid out with those UV maps in mind, everything looks good. But if the mod author was using a different body replacer than you, the skin parts of the mod (which are part of the .nif file) will be UV mapped for that texture. Thus, not only will the arms be shaped slightly differently than yours, but they will have nipples and pubic hair on them. Oops. Someone is using a body mesh with the wrong UV's. That's how it works. Sorry if you're still confused. I'm a 3D Modeler, and I tried to explain it in as little technical jargon as I could. I recommend Robert's Female and Male. They are down-to-Earth, non-silly, all-around practical bodies. Looking at these models in Blender, I can only tip my hat to a very talented 3D Modeler and texturer. The amount of work that goes into this stuff is huge, and somebody was dedicated to making a very realistic human body, by God. But if you want to use all the sexy-anime-nursemaid-armor mods out there, HGEC is the right choice. Big boobs, wide hips, it's the closest thing to Playboy Nirn will ever see unless Sheogorath's next portal opens up on 20th Century Earth.

harthag
Thanks Megatarius, that was incredible helpful. And yes, you made it very clear, I was able to understand the little jargon you did use. Thanks again.
