Braith wants me to adopt her? what!?

With help from a post made by cubedj21 i was able to complete this little quest

Open the console click her so it shows her id then type setfactionrank 05004290 -1, close the console, talk to her and she will say her usual speech about lars etc, run over to lars and talk to him he should now offer the option to help him with braith, now go back to braith, repeat the first step and interact with her again and it should complete, though she will reset to the orphan dialogue if she transitions to another area like her house, but still it allows you to complete the quest (i have a bit of ocd when it comes to quests so it was bugging the hell out of me not being able to complete this)

Hope this helps someone, it worked for me.

This happened to me with Britte in Rorikstead. Her father is still alive and Sissel has regular dialogue.

 

Console command addfac 3004290 -1

Britte's dialogue is back to normal. I don't know if it will cause problems later though.

 

From this post, I reverse engineered it. :smile:

open the console and type:

 

"GetLinkedRef LinkCustom01"

 

> if it returns 1A6AD then continue with the next command, if none or 0 then it's a bug or some other mod influence

 

"prid 1A6AD"

 

and then:

 

"getdead"

 

> if it returns 1 then Lemkil is dead and you can't fix this by only using console commands, if you never resurrected Lemkil by console command then it's a bug or some other mod is causing this.. there's a way to add a new responsible NPC for Britte (aka parent) by using TESedit (or remove her from the formlist of adoptable children completely), but you'll need to use the custom "un-orphan mod" as I wrote on page 2 in this thread to get her out from the "move to the orphanage loop" anyway... there's no easy way to fix this just by using console commands..

Bump with some insight on the problem.

 

My issue was due to a mod, Victoria Velina Revamped.esp, having a seemingly out-of-place Cell edit that overrides Hearthfires.esm's. Specifically, this one:

  • Cell > Block 3 > Sub-Block 6 > 000165AB (WhiterunAmrensHouse) > Persistent > 0001A66B (BraithREF)

This entry overrides two XLKR - Linked References, LinkCustom01 records from Hearthfires that led to Braith's adoption status breaking.

Unfortunately, this only fixes it in a New Game and not my existing playthrough with an already broken Braith. Will see if I can do something about it, though - need her in normal behaviour for just a moment to kick off another mod's quest.
Anyone else having this issue but not the Victoria Velina mod, I advise to use TES5Edit and CTRL+F searching for 'Braith' (or any other child you've having trouble with for that matter) entries. Feel free to PM me if assistance is required.

 

EDIT: The command 'addfac 3004290 -1', as mentioned a couple of posts above, helped to at least temporarily fix Braith - enough to trigger my sought after dialogue. Seems to persist through cell change too, fortunately (for now).

Hey there. Just figured out a probable solution for the issue... But the guy just above already adressed the exactly same thing I did.

Complementing:

 

- have mfg Console installed (it's supposed to be a must have tool)

- click Braith, or any messed up npc in your case

- look for LastRefChange AND LastBaseChange values; it should be an .esp, note it down

 

Open the noted esp in the xEdit or CK and edit it yourself.

 

In my case it was Victoria Velina Revamped too.

Seems to be solved for now.

*Sigh* Well i`m in TES5Edit an instead of looking in multiple places i just clicked on what was highlighted in Green.The issue happened twice an i couldn't figure it out. Well Guess what it says?

 

Cell > Block 3 > Sub-Block 6 > 000165AB (WhiterunAmrensHouse) < Amren's House > (Click)

 

[00] Skyrim.esm [03] Heathfire.esm [05] unofficial Skyrim Legendary patch [ 2C] SofiaFollower.esp

 

Son of a B. Well now i know. Because it happened JUST AFTER installing this mod from the STEAM workshop. I think we have an answer to whats going on.
