Feastday DLC worth buying?

Just noticed 3 new DLC items pop up, Feastday Gifts, Feastday Pranks and Feastday Combo. What are they and are they worth spending 240 points on? Sounds a bit much for some pointless "fun" items to me when they aren't needed or even useful to game progression because you end up with plenty of gifts anyway.

They're worth it for the amusement alone, if not for the ability to capture videos of certain situations that you might not be able to otherwise (i.e. it takes a lot to get a character to really hate you; you can use one of the bad gifts to get to -100 approval rather quickly). However, I am rather annoyed that the combo link doesn't work but the two individual ones do.

Do you have to buy them?

My husband who uses and PS3 got them for nothing. I watched and didn't think much of them really, unless you want them to increase/decrease the approval rating, it was a bit nothing all they do is say thank you, I certainly wouldn't buy them.

Yeah it does seem a bit of a rip off.. if you really want to make your companions hate you or love you that much you can just use a console command. Yes its cheating but when you think about it so is this DLC.

I don't think I will be buying them. I was disappointed to see what they were after getting excited from the "New DLC available" popup :( Thought it would be something cool like a new quest or something!

Definitely NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY.

This is the kind of small throw-away DLC that companies usually give you for free, as thanks or as a holiday gift. EA/Bioware is trying to charge you $5.

If you buy into this, expect all future DLCs for DAO to be garbage like this.

Hold on to your money in order to ensure you get true DLCs in the future.

This should have been for free but instead a business is business and we can't do anything about it. In a side note there are rumors that BW is making a DLC with Leliana in it.

It's not just "a business is a business."

Think about it. If Bioware/EA puts out a crap DLC like "A few new items for $5!" and ppl buy it... then what incentive is there for them to take the time to make an actual DLC like WK or RtO for $5 payback? Why hire VA for new lines? Why make a new dungeon? Just make a few crap items and ppl will pay the same money!

The only way to ensure that we actually get real DLC in the future, is to let them know with our wallets.

Tell that to millions of people who would gladly follow BW to the end. The problem is that BW and EA won't care as long as they have profits and if one DLC goes bad it wont hurt their profit margins. It is the way the business world works and we are nothing more than pawns in their game of profits. This really goes to the artistic director and producer as well as the marketing director and their poor decision making skills not the writers or programmers. If BW are serious about DA they should really have a serious chat with these people and make serious improvements for DA's future or we will have another failed franchise. This rumored DLC and the patch better be worth it or BW is going to the wolves.

P.S WK, TSP & RtO should all have been one DLC not three in my opinion.

I'm a bit more lenient towards WK, RtO, and TSP. Granted I think they're 20% overcharged, but at least they're bonafide dungeons with a real quest tree, real story, and real new voice-overs.

This "few gifts for the same price as RtO" is complete bs. If I want to manipulate approval without regard for roleplay, I can do that myself with the toolset or console, I don't need joke gifts that offers no new story/dialogue.

The problem with crap DLC is that they're painless for EA/Bioware in the short term. Even if only 20% of the fanbase buys it, it doesn't hurt EA/Bw because the joke gifts literally took one dev 30 minutes to make. If few ppl buy RtO, which took real development, then EA/Bw would hurt.

So why would they take the risk to make real DLC when they can make the risk-free garbage DLC instead? That's the problem.
