It's cause I knocked it over. There was a grinding noise and the game stopped working.

Anyway, hardly anyone plays the PS3 that I know and the online isn't as good to be honest.

Wait for the new firmware, in game chat is coming very soon. Also a new service that's going to cost 10$ a year. Witch many people are speculating on what is, they are going to leave psn free though  , witch is good.

Well, if it wasn't for the fact that it is a solid "M" for mature, I would have got this for the XBOX (for my birthday) but I cannot have such games in the family run with so many youngins runnin 'round. I'll have to wait for the PC.

It does look really good though.

Still ain't working... D:

My mums gonna pay half towards a new copy though, so it's not all bad...

@LHammonds, you should just get it on the xbox. Keep it out of reach from them and play it while they're out. The multiplayer is great for just jumping in for a quick session and having the whole area to explore, while the singleplayer is GTA style, with loads of short missions for a busy life.

Well, I have the latest GTA for the XBOX and I had borrowed Bioshock from a friend but I never play them. If I have to way until bedtime to do something, odds are, I'm passing out in the baby room trying to get him to sleep. But if the scenario is such that the kiddos are not under my heels and I have some free time, I usually head to my office to either work on contacting work (being responsible) or goof off creating models / working on Oblivion modding. Bottom line is that I'd like to play this one but will probably never happen.

This is a cool game. I think is from the same makers of Grand Theft Auto. It has a lot of mini mission just like GTA. I am not a cowboy fan but I still like this game.

 Im afraid Ive got to be the devil's advocate again here guys. I really didnt like this game, I tried, but well... 7/10 I can respect it, and its got alot going for it, but for me niggles shot it down, I think it had fairly good graphics by xbox360 standards, and should be commended for actualy being more than 5 minutes long( a rarity these days) but there is just something about it I didnt like, similarly to gta 4, the early rockstar games were fun and entertaining, but these two latest games just... werent. Im sure this is more personal choice than honest to god failure in rdr's case, but it just felt a bit numb, I could never really find any immersion, and the gunfights, once the novelty of shooting someone's 10-gallon off with a navy colt wore off I just found myself a little bit bored. The horse is well done, but, well, its a horse, and I dont like having to rely on an animal, even in a game, for me they normaly are only useful as a source of meat, tendon, sinew, bone and rawhide, so having to take care of one grated. Lastly I didnt like the protagonist, this is probably what hurt it the most for me. Im a fantasy author in the real world, and playing as this guy just wasnt fun, Im sure a lot of you will disagree but it just felt like yet another dull gta4 in the old west, and for me, thats not something I want to spend my time playing. Im sure a lot of people will object to this, probably rather violently and agressively, but I dont care, this is my opinion on rdr, and no matter how much you yell and snarl it will not change. :pirate:  :pirate:

Well, my wife wanted me to get something so I went ahead and got RDR for the 360. I put the kids to bed early last night and had a go.

And of course, being a gun-toting Texan, this game appeals to me.

I haven't got very far in the game but I think I've experienced enough to put my thoughts down on it.

The horses and wildlife have been done very well. The controls for the horse can take a bit to get used to. I laughed when the horse bucked me off when I spurred them too much trying to go fast.

There are a lot of things to like about this game and I am sure they will be discussed by a LOT of people so I'll leave that to them.

I'll focus on what rubbed me wrong to keep it short.

Swimming. There ain't none. You mistakenly fall off a dock and you simply die. No struggling, to rescue divers...nothing...just dead if you hit the water. So let that be a warning to you. Water = Hydrochloric Acid.

Death. I still have not quite figured out how all this works yet. When you die, you seem to go back to your "house" which as the moment is the initial bed & breakfast you get at the beginning. But having to re-load a game does not seem to re-load to a point in time. For example, I was in the middle of a side quest and had just finished one leg of it and got side-tracked by doing a shooting contest and earned some fame and awards. I died very soon after that (thanks to an unfriendly pack of boars that literally bull-dozed me off a ravine to plummet to my death). But when the game reloaded my save point, the side quest was still at that same point and I still had the sharp-shooter status but the inventory seemed to be reverted back. So I am a bit confused as to what is "saved" and when.

Shooting. The 3D shooter controls of an XBOX are nothing compared to the ability of a keyboard and mouse so I guess that is why they added a "follow" feature so that if you are looking in the direction of an enemy or animal and pull your gun, the cross-hair locks onto that target and follows it a bit. It almost felt like a cheat since I quickly figured out how to hit dead-on and rarely miss. It is easy to get a one-hit-kill on a person by pushing up just after it locks on to get an easy head-shot...even if they are performing a lateral maneuver. I also must have missed the tutorial that said to press the joystick down to go into "dead eye" mode to slow down time. :whistling: Once I figured out that trick, I was able to easily start saving people in distress such as dudes on a rope about to get hung. So the "feel" of shooting is more of a gimmick that says "let's have fun" more than any kind of realism sense and that is OK but you need to know that looking for realism is not something you should do...even though they tried to make an environment feel "real"...the gameplay is centered squarely around having fun.

Skinning. You can make a good amount of money killing animals, skinning them and taking the goods to a vendor to sell. However, the "skinning" scene of the animal tends to get old after a while and I wished they had an option to simply pick up the items and move on rather than go into the cut-scene sequence (which you cannot escape out of). When the animal is in the right position (beside a rock face or tree), the game seems to avoid the cut-scene probably to avoid awkward camera positions and simply gives you the items when you harvest them...which makes me envious and I try to put down my prey are just the right time to see if I can cause the game engine to avoid the cut scene...which breaks the immersion by forcing an immersion...so-to-speak.

Language. I know the game says rated M for language but is it so difficult for game developers to provide an option to change dialog that would normally have foul language to an option that didn't? It's not like you have voice-over lip sync issues like movies have...it can actually be done to make it look natural. I guess if they are going to have it rated M, they just don't care to provide that option.

Awkward moments. Rough, tough cowboy with a spotty past...picking flowers...er herbs. Huh?

Sniping Only. It seems that whenever you have any amount of distance between you and your enemy, you can pwn them every time. However, the moment you find yourself shoulder-to-shoulder with baddies, you simply cannot handle the situation. I 1st experienced this with the boar pack attack mentioned earlier. The next time I died was while walking around town and a pack of about 5 or 6 riders came running through the streets (where I was walking) and began firing on everything they saw...including me. I quickly dispatched 3 of them as they approached but the remaining 3 boxed me in with their horses like an isosceles triangle and shot me to death with ease. I guess a shotgun would have helped but the problem is trying to turn around and aiming up. You cannot turn quickly and you can only aim so high...when surrounded in close quarters, you have about two tenths of a second to live...much shorter than you can turn around.

Well, that's it for now.
