Why doesn't Leyawiin have a harbor?

The geography and set up of Leyawiin has confused me from day one.

I can understand wanting to defend the area and thus a city develops...but wouldn't functional navigation through the area to so the IC is not landlocked make sense?

I often thought Leyawiin would be a fantastic place to have canals...almost Venice-like.

But the landlocking of the Imperial City aside...how can Leyawiin NOT even have a harbor? It should have 2, one for the Niben and one for the Topal!

Geographically speaking, the economy of TAMRIEL would flow faster through Leyawiin then through Anvil...and yet not one ship.

Now that you mention it...

The south side of the city should be all harbor, few docks..bunch of ships...yet..nothing

Though i do beleive there is a tiny rowboat there somewhere

Sounds like a good opportunity for a mod! Maybe there already is one!

There is. It's called Better Cities.

Leyawiin is another example of Bethesda being complete boneheads. I don't know what they were thinking. Further up the river, you'll find it's shallow enough to walk across, so IC is indeed landlocked.

This game was rushed to the 360 Launch date. There are so many instances of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. They probably told the guy who did Leyawiin "Okay, it's in a swamp!!! Go!!" I've seen concept art for Leyawiin. It originally had this huge bridges joining two sides of the river like St. Paul and Minneapolis, like Brooklyn and Manhattan.

I can only hope that a lot of the developers felt the same way I do now about the myriad of mistakes in this game. These things get rushed sometimes, and everyone is on a diet of cigarettes and red bull for a whole week of no sleep.

If the suits upstairs hadn't been chomping at the bit about the XBOX, Oblivion would have come out a few months later, been just as popular and successful, and no money would have been lost.

Let's hope that Bethesda will include it in future releases. I mean, even if they'd made that, imagine what kind of computer you must have had, because, we should not forget that Oblivion was released in 2006.

Yeah, there should be a harbor in Leyawiin. It would at least make trade easier with the southern regions of Elsweyr and Blackmarsh. And, while we're on the subject of things that don't appear to make any sense:

Why are there no ship maintenance facilities anywhere? There are docks, of course, but nothing set up to really maintain a ship.

Why are there no intact Forts anywhere in Cyrodiil?

If the sewers are supposed to be used as an emergency escape for the Emperor, why aren't they kept clean of Goblins and Vampires?

Why does Jauffre trust an escaped prisoner he just met to rescue the Emperor's only surviving heir? And without backup or an escort, at that? Wouldn't the Grandmaster of the Blades actually send some Blades, since A} that's their job in the first place and B} he's known each one of them for years?

Why are Jauffre and Baurus the only two blades fighting at he Battle of Bruma? Shouldn't all of them be there, since the Emperor-to-be is leading the battle?

Why did Mehrunes Dagon attack Bruma at all, instead of opening an Oblivion Gate at the only door leading into or out of Cloud Ruler Temple?

Why does nobody in Bruma ever seem to notice that a certain guild hall is burning? And why is the fire never put out and the guild hall restored?

Why is the prison sentence for murder only ten days? That seems pretty lenient. In some parts of the US, you get more than that for just for pulling out a weapon in public (or just for having it at all, in certain places).

And, given that the prison sentence for murder only ten days, what did Valen Dreth do to get put there for 11 years? Commit over 400 murders before he was caught? (okay, Sir Killsalot has committed over 17,000 and is still running free, but still)

As you can see, there are a lot of things that don't make sense in the game. But it's still a great game.
