A crown suited for a king

I was surprised when I had searched around the nexus and not found a mod that adds a crown that a king/queen would wear except for the lords and ladies shop, could of sworn something else too...I was wondering if anyone wanted to try to make one. The problem with crowns is how the game engine adds headwear.

 

Wearable items take "slots" such as the hair/head slots.

 

A closed-faced helm completely replaces the head and the CS defines this by taking both the hair and head slots.

 

An open-faced helm replaces the hair and ears and the CS defines this by taking the hair slot.

 

Since a crown would be like an open-faced helm, it would make the hair and ears disappear! In order to correct this, you would need to attach the hair and ear models to the crown model itself...and there are simply too many combinations possible to make anything other than something specific to your particular character.

 

If there were a simple solution, I would have released my Lords of the Rings crown long ago:

Or, it coul take the tail slot. I've seen headbands that do this. They actually work rather well. A crown, more or less, is just one of those headbands with fancy spikes.

 

I think you can have it conformulated.

But it could not account for clipping issues. What may look good for somebody using "crop" hair may look horrible if using one of Ren's big-hair mods and vise versa.

Well, Rens, sure, but it looks fine with vanilla hairs. Can't do much for fancy anime hair.

I just see it as a nightmare to support.

 

You build the initial crown that works well on most vanilla hair.

 

But then somebody "has to" have a modified version to fit hair X...then another for hair Y, etc.

Just say you don'tdo patches, and if they don't like it they should just deal with vanilla hair.

 

Always prefer vanilla hair, meself. It's built better, really. Less clipping, easily changable, realalistic...

It might perhaps be easier to create a crown such as this, then you wouldn't have to worry about hair, as it is covering it up.
