Really Dumb Question About Dropping Items

This is probably a really dumb question, but how do I drop items? I try and go into my inventory and drag them off the screen, but half the time the item won't drop and I'm forced to press the spacebar to get it back (as I can't click on anything else). The manual states nothing about how to drop nor does it in the control options in-game. Is there an easy way to drop items in this game?

Shift+click on the item will drop it in a random direction when you exit your inventory screen. The one problem with this is that you don't know where it will land and I have lost stuff this way when it improperly landed in something or otherwise had a collision/clipping problem. One thing that I find works for dragging an item out of your inventroy screen a lot of the time is looking up (att the ceiling/sky/etc) before opening your inventory. I think the insufficient space message may often be due to the game engine perceiving a collision between the item and the ground/floor.

Nope - It's not a dumb question at all! I had exactly the same problem myself. I learnt just to live with shift+click under close supervision. But it's all better now.

If you hold down the left mouse button on the item you want to drop, it will close your inventory and you will be holding it like if you grabbed it, letting you place it where ever you like.

Also, I have sometimes found that when dropping a set of items (say, 5 of a certain item), all will drop but 1 leaving you flailing around with an item hovering in front of you. If you find yourself holding an item that will not fall, simply jump into the air, this will release the item onto the floor/ground. The same thing goes for the telekenesis spell - jump and it will drop. 8)

Or just press Z (the otherwise useless and pathetic grab key) ;)

I like using the grab feature you are talking about in coordination with the body moving mod to pull people's bodies around the city and create massive piles of death in my wake.

Just a thought.

My question on this topic is this, though. The Telekenis spells have a description of being able to "throw" objects, but does anybody know how to do this?
