The Phantom Sheep

It's happened to all of us... You're wandering about Ald-Ruhn, gawking at the giant crabshell on the North edge of town, when suddenly, out of nowhere... *BLEEEAT*

You turn around and draw your weapon, thinking that some wooly bully has snuck up on you in hopes to take you out in one strike. Seeing nothing suspicious on the screen, you immediately assume that it's the siltstrider, or possibly some wooden planks squeaking...

An hour later, you emerge from a Smuggler's cave, almost to the point of overencumberment after finding a complex of caves that must run for almost a quarter of a mile and all the loot stored within. It happens again, and you check to make sure that it's coming from the computer...

Twenty minutes have passed with the computer muted. The sound is definetly not coming from without the box, so you continue on... "It must be a siltstrider... A bug, a glitch, perhaps. Maybe the sound hadn't finished playing when I entered an intereior cell," you say to yourself. However, three-quarters of the way to Maar Gan, you hear an earsplitting noise...

You search the area, but alas, there is not a sheep to be found.

So... Does anybody have a good explanation for the Phantom Sheep noise in the Ashlands?

Just to annoy us is my explanation. For that redoran kill the mudcrabs quest, I spent far too many hours wandering around trying to find the source of that noise, thinking it was the farm I was supposed to go to!

Mine is that when the Nords invaded Resdayn, they slaughtered sheep in order to to wear their wool as armor (don't ask me why, but Nords feel more comfortable if they have the skin and pelt of a dead animal thrown on them and used as armor). The sheep, seeing their extinction almost inevitable if they didn't do something, quickly mastered the art of 100% Chameleon. To this day, they stay invisible not only for fear of the Nords, but also to observe Guar from a safe distance.

Actually I've seen this beautifully made mod called er Cates Critters, not sure of the spelling of the Cate part. It's on Morrowind Summit, all new models,-well made models mind you-not just retextured guars of farm animals pigs and cows and goats and chickens.

Have yet to download it, I'll try get around to it this week and give y'all my opinion if you're interested.
