A beautiful and atmospheric stormy plugin that doesn't just increase the density of the raindrops, it adds a misty sheeting effect that increases immersion and makes the landscape really feel as if it's being drenched with moisture. The problem: Others have found out that the misting script apparently isn't working properly- while the effect is exactly as it should be when a storm begins, the effect doesn't always turn off when the storm stops and the weather clears. It's also possible to get the storm inside interior cells. Supposedly can also cause save bloat, but I can't personally verify this. The mod was abandoned more than two years ago and no one's been able to get a hold of the author. I'm very interested in getting this unique mod to work properly so if anyone is interested in taking a look at it and letting me know whether it could be fixed, and what such a fix would involve, please send me a private message. Thank you! Edited August 4, 2014 by miketheratguy
Lisnpuppy
Please just remember that the permissions on this file state that you must get permission from the mod author to impove or fix the file. While it is sad that sometimes real life takes modders away for one reason or another abandonment is not free-reign to access the mod. So any help you get with this needs to stay between you and the individual helping you and can not be shared/uploaded with the public here at The Nexus (unless you happen to finally reach the mod author.) Good luck.~Lisnpuppy
miketheratguy
Indeed, I understand and remember. I've edited and simplified the original post just to make sure that things stay proper. Edited August 4, 2014 by miketheratguy
miketheratguy
Just tested the mod again. It seems that fast traveling to a distant area will ultimately turn off the rain effect, so I'm not sure if the script issue is a timing thing or what. Can anyone help? miketheratguy
Clearly, I'm not going to get any help with this. Feel free to delete.
Mattiewagg
Clearly, I'm not going to get any help with this. Feel free to delete. It's only been two days. You might be able to get some help, just give it some time. If it's worth anything, then I'll look through the scripts and see if I can figure out the issue. I'm not giving any guarantees though. miketheratguy
It wasn't meant to be a complaint, I just figured that if no one's interested then it made sense to delete it and reduce the clutter on the forum page. Having said that, if you'd like to take a look at the mod and tell me what you think I'd be genuinely grateful. You aren't obligated of course, but should you decided to do so please send me a private message so we can take it from there.
KorinOo
@Lisnpuppy Does it mean that they can't do something like compatibility patch or translation mod? Players would have to download the original mod from it's original creator and then download a "fix/patch" mod created by someone else. Would that still require the permission from mod author? Yes that is what it means, you need permission if you want to edit anything by someone else. Many modders put in their permissions if patches or translations are exceptable, but if they do not say then you need to contact them. Its not your work. mrpdean
Have you tried Surpreme Storms? I know it's not completely the same but it does add a "misty sheeting effect" when it's raining heavily. Just a suggestion in case you've not tried it before... but I'm guessing you have. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27022/?
