Can this mod be rescued?

I have in fact tried Supreme Storms, and I do like it, but it's just not the same. Thank you for the suggestion though.

It doesn't seem like Natural Skyrim Rain would take much to fix- the people commenting on the page seem to feel that it's just an error in the script- but of course I have no idea how to change anything or I would.

Okay. I looked through the scripts, which was a bit hard in the first place, since the source files weren't included. But I decompiled them, and took a look. There's nothing I see that is overtly wrong, and I can't tell what would have caused the issue. I'll take one more look, but I'm no sure if I can fix it.

That's really weird. The rain starts up fine when the appropriate weather begins, but it doesn't always turn off- you can have clear skies and sunny weather, and the rain will thin out a bit, but it will still keep going. Worst of course is the fact that it can stay on even when indoors, underground, etc. It was attributed to a script "not firing properly".

I don't know about the alleged save bloat, but that would be related to the script as well, right?

Whatever comes of it, thank you very much for taking the time to look. I hope the problem can at least be identified.

Okay. Something I noticed that might help you contact the author, since I wasn't able to find the source of the bug:

The file was last modified in 2014, but the author (Nopheros) last modified the file in 2012. This means that somebody else most likely has access to the file, which means they might be somebody who can help fix it. I'm afraid I have no idea who this person is though.

I saw that and was wondering what it meant. I often see mod pages "updated" only to then discover that the author is still nowhere to be seen and no noticeable changes have been made to the layout (to say nothing of the file). I never really understand why that is or what it indicates, I just assumed that it had something to do with the site's occasional redesign or code changes.

If a modder has access to that page and can help out with this fix I'd love to know who, and how, but unfortunately since no one's posted anything in response to the fans of the mod I'm guessing that whomever it may be doesn't have any answers. I most recently wrote to the author a day or two ago to no avail. If only he had the Nexus set up to email him when he got a private message.

If you don't see how to fix the mod then it is what it is, I may just have to accept that I'll never be able to use it. Regardless of what happens next I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out, I'm afraid you may have been the only one who wanted to try.

I was glad to help, I just wish I'd been able to fix it. Sorry.

It's probably because somebody added images to the users image page, for some reason the site signifies the entire mod as being updated. You can see what's happening by clicking the little gear icon underneath the first image next to Action that says Logs underneath it.

Looking at the script it may be due to the function FXcameraAttachFunc() which checks elseIf weather.getCurrentWeatherTransition() > 0.250000, I don't know how he decided on that number and I can't really find any documentation about the function.

Ah, that could very well be it.

Your comment about the script is interesting. SInce I don't know anything about the subject, I'm curious- while it sounds like the script that you've identified could have something to do with the rain not stopping when it should, would it also have anything to do with the rain appearing inside interior cells?

Also, is there any indication of what may be causing the alleged save bloat?

It seems to check on weather transitions whether to remove the camera effect, but I don't know what 0.25 is in relation to that function.

EDIT: I thought it had to do with it checking whether the current weather type was running and only stopping the effect if it noticed a transition, but then I saw he checks for it after checking if it's raining, I'll have to look at it some more.
