CorrodedSoul
that's it, a question, a big one I think: It's possible to change, by the means of using other or modifying the existing one, the character creation menu????if it's so, would you, the great gurus of Oblivion Modding, point me in the right direction???? My gratitude (and kudos btw  ) to those who respond me. Thank you all in advance. CorrodedSoul over.
Imrinfected
It's possible to change, by the means of using other or modifying the existing one, the character creation menu????In what way? There is a mod that modifies the sliders and adds numbers to them. It's probably possible to modify way the interface looks, some of the options in it. Just depends on what you're trying to change. CorrodedSoul
what I'm trying to accomplish is to have more options, like a body selection field, similar to the hair or eye selection fields... because to the mod I'm planning, using the actual system WILL be a pain in the ***... Slawter500
Do you mean like muscular, or fat, or slim, or bony? Different body sizes? Or different body shapes? Please be more specific.
CorrodedSoul
yup, that's it, i was trying to give the player the option to choose between the different body option we have, like, if you have hgec for example, you can choose to use the fighter, or the guts, or the ebe version, i was thinking about to even choose between the different cup sizes.... but after where tinkering with the cs for a while.... it doesn't let you choose different body meshes even between races, like the geck does.... so, after all, if it IS somewhat possible, is far beyond me right now... Anyway, if someone can point me in the right direction, i mean, where to find or what to look at, i think can figure it out, at least i *think* i know were to override it.... LFact
The game itself does not support multiple body shapes.(One of the reasons of supporting multiple body type in Fallout3 is children) And, even if you can fake it by wearing unplayable body parts, clothing always matters. Since clothes/armor meshes replace corresponding body parts literally, you cannot tell difference of body shapes when actors are wearing clothes/armor for certain body type. Slawter500
I'm afraid it is impossible.
Imrinfected
I'm afraid it is impossible.Impossible huh? Well I guess I have a new mission, then. Like LFact said, the body could be changed by using a clothing that uses the appropriate body mesh selected. In reality, the body mesh wouldn't change, but when parts of the body mesh are exposed(Fully nude, no chest armor/clothing) the appropriate body mesh clothing could be equipped, thus giving the reliable illusion that the body mesh is different. It's pretty elementary scripting. However, he was wrong about clothing not matching the body. A script could be written to add the appropriate clothing tailored to the current equipped body, and while it would be somewhat time consuming, it would work, and work well. One might suggest that it's unreasonable to suggest each clothing be recreated for every body mesh, but for most body meshes, it's already been done. It's just a matter of a little work in the CS, and some scripting. The only real issue is modifying the character creation menu, which I know nothing about. I guess it could be done through an obse plugin, but it's so much easier to just do it by way of a messagebox on character creation, or around character creation, prompting the player to select which body type they want, and hence forth any clothing they pick up will be removed from their inventory, and the set matching that body type would be added, unless there's a way to do it that directly changes the mesh for that clothing/armor. So to answer your question, CorrodedSoul, it can be done, but as they say, "keep it simple, stupid" so you should start with the more simple thing, which would be using a prompt which the player can use to select the body mesh, and if that works out, and it turns out that there is some way to modify the character creation menu, that could be done to improve on the mod. The bulk of your problem would be getting vanilla clothing/armor replacers for the different body types. This mod is a good place to start, which covers most of HGEC http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24078. If you're serious about doing this, I would be willing to help you out in the way of handling all of the scripting, and offering further advice. This doesn't seem like too hard of a project, so if you're serious, by all means I suggest you(or we) get started on it.
CorrodedSoul
well, the first step to get serious, was this one. I mean, having little to no knowledge in THIS particular game scripting engine, i will have to look around a while to catch up, first i will look how to make the functions to the body changing... then how to make it and not to overwhelm the cpu... with that sorted out, which is mostly look around here to the self equipping mods and hammer over that to make it fit, the last thing is to put it like a messege, even a little orb will do, there's no reason to make it right at the character creation.well with that said, the only thing left to do is to present my respects and gratitude to all of you.~arigato gosai masu~ CorrodedSoul over! Ps: @ Imrinfected: once i really know how deep into the rabbit hole can I venture myself, i'll drop you a pm, to annoy you with questions 'bout scripting
Sineko
i do recall a mod i seen about a year ago that sorta did this, but the way they went about it was creating multiple versions of the races like 3 different types of imperial and such that were fat short skinny type thing. which i suppose might solve your problem but what your going for is a good idea if it could be worked properly. although after some of the mods ive seen i dont count anything as impossible anymore (I.E deadly reflex and UV i recall people said was impossible back in the early oblivion modding)
