paddybhoy
So yeah, some commands just plain won't work. If i try to do player.additem I always get a compiled script not saved error almost every time, with the exception of Gold and Lockpicks. I've tried loads of things and nothing else works. Even the example from the wiki "E.g., player.additem 000669A5 5 will add five leeks to your player's inventory" does not add five leeks to my inventory. I uninstalled NMM, then the game itself and deleted all files relating to either before reinstalling and still nothing. Right now all I have loaded is vanilla skyrim and all dlc's but nada. Looked all over for an answer but no one seems to have any, the only answer I ever find is "depending on load order xx might be something else at the start of each ID", so yeah, already tried that aswell. Anyone have ideas, completely spoils the game for me as I like to mod stuff myself but can't spawn the items I create to see if they work properly which is a huge PITA. Will love anyone who provided an answer that works, heck I'll even name my firstborn after them. Thanks in advance if anyone knows anything. VictoriaG
Well you could type in the console for example: help "sword" and it will list all instances of swords in the game with their correct item codes.
paddybhoy
Ok, that seems to work. I usually use the code I get when I target something, for example an Imperial Sword shows up as "ff000c97". I guess this is a different type of code then ? While I was typing the incorrect code for some items though, It didn't explain the fact I couldn't spawn items when I did use the right code, but I think I've figured out why. From what I can gather using the console when in windowed mode is what is causing the problems. Using help "sword" or anything else in fullscreen lists all references to that word like it should and shows their ID's, but if I use help in windowed mode, all I get returned is "filters: 0-all 1-functions, 2-settings, 3-globals, 4-other forms" and nothing else, I even tried using PgUp but there isn't anything else there.Typing player.additem 000669A5 5 in fullscreen adds 5 leeks to my inventory, but typing the same line in windowed mode only returns a "compiled script not saved" error. So from what I can tell, windowed mode messes with the console somehow, only thing is i'm not sure this only happens with me, or for everyone, but it's defo the cause in my case. Anyway, i'm happy enough to finally have figured it out and can now enjoy playing and maybe this thread will help anyone else experiencing this problem. Thanks for the reply. P.S If my firstborn is a boy, I'll call him Victor as I think naming him Victoria might give him a complex xD Edited August 4, 2014 by paddybhoy
Shadeybladey
If you have the DLC and Mods installed the number of the item will change depending on the load order. You are probably using an outdated list of codes for specific items. Safer bet is what VictoriaG said. ~
