Shidentora
How many mods is it possible to use without any CTD? Is there any way I could recognize what the game doesn't like (slower movement, weird sounds, etc?). I like adding mods very much, but I have a feeling that there IS a final limit to this. So far, I am using the greener World (oh, yeah), more enemies (Talon guys and Chinese all over the place), Super mutants tweak, Raiders tweak, Naked girls, silo 3, silo 2 and about a dozen weapons mods. Wana add more, but I don't know if it is a good idea. Can overmodding damage my PC somehow?
Daynox
255 mods can be used.(me thinks no?) But you gotta watch what you install so there are no conflicts..Mods dont dmg your system at all...you might get a fps drop on some but over all mods are safe. My fallout game is modded with just over 200 after i cleaned some out that i dont use. My Oblivion game is modded to the max now (255)..if i install 1 more mod..doesnt matter what it is i get ctd on startup. so install away  But...Fallout 3 is a buggy game to begin with..some people have tonnes of mods and no problems..others have just a few mods and constant ctd's.... evilneko
It's not so much how many mods you have as what mods you have. Problems are caused by mods conflicting with each other, or poorly-made mods that do things in inefficient or just plain wrong ways. Some mods are known to conflict with certain other mods, and will say so right on the description.
Shidentora
Thanks, people. And how do u solve this graphical issue, you know, this big red triangle with a big white exclamation mark in the middle? In my broken steel, for example, the Sigma squad, hellfire armor, heavy incinetaror and feral ghoul reaver are all like this! Horror! And many mods also. Guns and armors in them look like this. And other mods are just fine. And in the case of some mods, my game just CTD and sayonara. WTH is the problem? I play on a laptop. Is this an issue? evilneko
Archive Invalidation. And what I mean by that is, click the Toggle Invalidation button in FOMM. And if you don't have FOMM, get it.
Shidentora
Got them both. But do you mean toggle the invalidation button to APPLY the invalidation, or REMOVE it, my friend? I have tried both possibilities and nothing happens
evilneko
Given it says "toggle" it is reasonable to assume the button does both. You could also try Achive Invalidation Invalidated. The red triangles you are seeing are missing textures/meshes. Since you're seeing them for DLC AND mod content, lack of archive invalidation is the most likely culprit, the other possibilities being bugs in the mod(s) and botched installation. Shidentora
Yea, I got archive invalidation invalidated as well. maybe it's the conflict between this and archive invalidation in FOMM? Hell if I know. Heard that many people have problem with the Broken Steel
evilneko
I thought you said you were having the same issue with some other mods as well? Anyway, if you haven't already, go ahead and move your DLC(s) into your data directory. Are you using official patches, or the fake/unofficial patch combo? As a last resort you could just extract the contents of Broken Steel's bsa files into your data directory.
Shidentora
OK, END OF PROBLEMS. AFTER BEING STUCK FOR QUITE A WHILE WITH MY OH-SO-HARD-PROBS, AND APPLYING THE SOLUTIONS U PPL SUGGESTED - ( THE USE OF FOMM, FOSE, ARCHIVE INVALIDATION, ETC.) I MADE A GENERAL OVERHAUL OF MY BELOVED FO3 (REINSTALLATION, ETC.) Now, wth happened?Simplle thing - load order mistakes, but the main prob was my own genuine mistake - THIS: Instead of rewriting the textures folder and stuff, I was renaming the unpacked folders first (e.g. Textures RAIDERS) and then I was addinng this goo to the data folder and - wow, the game didn't work.
