When I try installing/playing on my win8 computer I get a bunch of 'area not found'

It can't find tamriel rebuilt esm but also says , for example, 'Region West Gash is missing' or something along those lines...

any idea what this is about? I really want to play Morrowind again. In part because I want to make a series of roleplaying videos.

Copy & past the text from your warnings.txt here so we can see what's you problem exactly.

Exactly. There is only one logical explanation: you didn't install it correctly. Try re-installing. Also, did you get it on steam, or do you have it on an old CD? If you have It on steam try verifying the integrity of the game chahe.

And where is it installed? Better not be Program FIles. Its best to avoid program files for older games, due to the UAC from Vista onwards

There could also be another mod you're running which could be causing a problem (like the Better Sounds mod, some versions of which change Region names).

 

As well as your warnings.txt file a copy of your active mods would be handy. You can get that from Wrye Mash or mlox (in load order) or from your morrowind.ini (in alphabetical order).

 

mlox has a bunch of conflict info for Tamriel Rebuilt included so it's probably worth running anyway.
