Dave glanced over towards the young girl, she cant even have been in her teens yet. The first thing he noticed were her glowing cat-like eyes, fixed steadily upon him. The rusted trap around his ankles grew tighter, cutting further through his flesh. dive tried to apply pressure to his leg with both hands, he knew it wasnt working, but he tried anyway. He hurriedly said "Dave", before letting out another cry of pain. "My names dave, you have to help me, my tribe... we were attacked by ghouls...". The look of anguish Daves face as he dropped to the ground and began to sob. "They... theyre all dead, are'nt they?"

"Please, help me."

Aisha hurried around to her side of the fence and then watched as her sister held the man up. It wasn't often she even let them have a chance to talk before blasting their head off so she must have been in a good mood or something. Stepping out of her hiding place, she heard the man talking and guessed that he was harmless enough, all things considered of course. After he told his name and mentioned his tribe being lost she frowned, obviously touched by his predicament. Ignoring all thoughts of hostility, she walked close to him and undid the trap expertly. She had opened it many times before so moving the jaws open was nothing to her. Once his ankle was free, she said with a smile. "I don't know about your friends but we were just attacked by Night Ghouls ourselves and it was a pretty tough fight. If your friends weren't prepared for them either it's very likely that the Ghouls got to them. I'm sorry." Looking over to her sister, she said. "We can take care of him can't we? I'd feel really bad just letting him go like this." She had killed many before but this person was different in a way. She couldn't explain it but something told her that she shouldn't kill the man.

Sasha frowned at the man, lowering her rifle and moving out from behind the wreck as Aisha freed him from the trap. She walked toward him, listening as he explained about his "tribe" or some such. She nodded agreement with Aisha.

"Yeah, those ghouls are fast..." she grumbled, picking at the remains of her shirt.

She looked down at Dave's leg and then to her sister. She shrugged. The man wouldn't be much of a threat with a wound like that. "I guess we can let him in."

Sasha quickly unlocked the gate and opened it. "No funny stuff, okay?"

"Sure... No funny stuff".

Dave threw his pistol down on the ground infront of him.

He looked around, hoping that someone would emerge from the treeline. "*ban* ghouls, maybe someones still out in the forest, up a tree or somethin'..." It was false hope, but Dave needed it, regardless. Dave stagered through the gate before colapsing under the pain once again. He crawled to the gate and sat up against it. Staring blankly at the ground infront of him.

Sasha looked at the pistol thrown on the ground. She was perfectly happy to leave it there. There were plenty more like it, and it'd likely still be there later anyway. She grunted as Dave collapsed, moving to him and fishing out a syringe full of morphine.

"Hold still. This will help," she said as she jabbed the needle into Dave's leg and pushed down on the piston. She re-capped the empty syringe and put it back in her pocket. "Now come on, we can't stay out here." she continued, tugging at Dave's arm. She couldn't really support him on her own, so she waved Aisha over to help get Dave through the gate and inside the building. She was eager to get safely inside.

With a little help from Aisha, she'd manage to get the wounded man inside, with a brief pause to re-lock the gate. The power station-soda pop-home still had all the fancy trappings of its former life, but now featured teddy bears placed at strategic points around the room, and a pair of mattresses up against the back wall, also crowded with teddy bears. In the far corner was a pile of assorted junk, including a veritable armory of weapons. The eat-o-matic was stocked with a half dozen boxes of pre-war foods.

"Welcome to the home of the Black Cats. Behave, or the teddy guards will shoot you."

"Teddy bear guards?"

Dave began looking around, the bears were everywhere.

"Uhh... Whats with these... 'teddy bears guards'?

You know, they aint gonna save you if a talon get in here. He'll probably blow 'em all to hell once he's looted the place dry."

Dave limped over to the eat-o-matic and grabbed a box of Dandy Boy Apples, and eate all of them in the space of five minutes.

"You dont mind... do you?

Not that it makes a difference."

Aisha gave a small frown when he commented on their teddy guards. Sure even she knew that they wouldn't do much in an attack but she liked to let Sasha think that they were going to help. Looking to the man, she said. "That's if they get into here first. You've seen the traps we've laid out and there are even more further out. Not to mention they would have to get through us as well, since we don't usually leave the house unattended like this. Tonight was different, and it's a good thing we both left. One of us would have been zombie food for sure if we hadn't been together." She giggled a bit and then shook her head when he asked about the apples. "I don't mind but please ask first next time. It's not easy finding food you know. Even the odd scavenger has only light snacks on him."

Sasha glared at Dave. Not even in the house five minutes and he was already complaining taking stuff without asking. He even insulted her teddy bears! Well, he did look like a raider..

"We could've just left you out there. And don't think jus' cus you're bigger than us you can do whatever you want," Sasha warned.

Sasha plopped herself on the chair by the desk, keeping an eye on Dave as she opened a drawer and pulled out a nuka cola. She opened it and took a big gulp, leaning back in the ancient office chair.

"So how many were in your tribe?"

  • 4 weeks later...
The wind blew, loose boards and bits of metal banged and clanged, a radscorpion struck down a molerat. Above it all, Sergeant Teddy, Captain of the Teddy Guards, watched from his post atop the roof of VAPL-58. All was well, or at least, as well as it got in the Capital Wasteland.

  • 2 weeks later...

The wind disquised the noise of their footsteps, their black armor was nearly invisible in the late night dust storm. They weren't far from Girdershade, they'd already been there, killed some chick crazy about Nuka-Cola and one horny male without a father, they didn't have much but the food stored there was a nice little bonus. The real target lay ahead. What audacity, he's either an idiot or command didn't have a clue who we're dealing with. the commander thought in his heavy armor and desert owl helmet, his eyes scanning the horizon taking note of a lone figure in similarly black armor but this was an older armor, one that SWAT teams would have worn before the war, it had all kinds of ammunition clipped onto it and the man walked with a purpose, one intent on bringing hell upon the one he searched for, whoever he searched for... What the-pfft. Talon clusters, can't even aim. Cadeus thought as the Talon Company sniper missed his head and instead hit his lit cigar. He turned and took his barret of his back, even in the dust storm his eyes were keen and the fool hadn't blackened out his scope, you could still see the faint glimmer of the lens. As the merc was lining up his next shot a bullet screamed through his scope and into his eye socket, slicing through his brain and out the back of his head. The commander gave the signal then and nearly 2 dozen talon mercs emerged from the crags in the wasteland and charged towards Cadeus. Well, this ought to be fun. he dreamed wistfully as he laughed.

A half hour later bodies littered the wasteland and the ground was painted with blood. Did the dumbasses really think I couldn't pick out Talon? I wrote the damn book on how they run their ambushes and stealth approaches! Oh well, I got some target practice in and I'm not off course yet.
