Solidsnake33094
I'm not trying to badmouth anyone here, I know it isn't easy to create something like a new body mesh for characters, it takes hard work and some real know-how. However, if something doesn't look good, it simply doesn't look good. So I'm asking the community, why do YOU like these body replacers? I'm talking specifically about the Type 3 female replacer, and Robert's male replacer. I installed them both in order to try out the Spice of Life clothing mod, and while the clothing options there were good, I hated the fact that I had to use these custom bodies for them. Right away I couldn't help but notice how utterly unnatural these bodies looked. The females have almost no shoulders, there arms are thin as twigs. The men's shoulders aren't lined up properly, one goes up higher than the other, and in general the proportions of both body replacers were just all wrong. They don't look human, they look like dolls. Creepy dolls. And yet these body replacers are some of the most popular mods on the Nexus and I seriously don't know why. Again, I respect the work of the modders, they're doing things that I don't even have an inkling of the knowledge required to do. However, I really just think these body replacers are downright ugly. So, why do you guys enjoy these? I really am curious, because I simply don't see the appeal.
imu333
I myself use vanilla bodies, so does my current armour projects.
Polyfemus
I use it for the personalities not just for the bodies.
jet4571
I don't see the issues you are talking about. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f257/JET-WTF/bodcomparison_zps489b58fb.jpg That's a side by side comparison of the 2 models and the Type 3 is proportioned correctly while the vanilla mesh is not, the arms are larger than they should be for the size of the thighs and the shoulder width does not correctly match the hip width. There really are females with a similar physique to either one but the Type 3 is better as far as proportions are concerned. What you see happening in the game is quite often the animations used by the game distorting the bodies and theres the issue of the skeleton not being all that great. As for the male bodies not a one of them is realistic for average healthy fit male bodies and the proportions are exaggerated but that's normal for a video game. I would say the biggest draw is the better quality mesh where you do not really see the geometry like the vanilla females club feet and that those bodies have a nude option and better UVW mapping all around. *EditAbout the vanilla models shoulder and the skeleton. The skeleton was designed with that body in mind and the shoulder bones are wider than they should be to accommodate and animations use the skeleton's bone positions. Thus when using Type 3 that's why it distorts the shape of the shoulders and arms. Also just for your information the reason I know there are woman with those 2 body shapes is because they were based off a real person to get the shape correct. You say nobody is shaped like that but there was someone shaped like that who was either body scanned with a 3d imager or they had pictures taken from multiple angles and a 3d artist followed the contours. That's strange. I'm glad you showed me this, but still I find it weird because the Type 3 body instantly came off as very misshapen when I tried it. Could it be possible that maybe my field of view makes it look distorted somehow? Playing at 90 FOV I know that the screen gets a bit stretched toward the edges and can make objects right at the edge of the screen look a bit off. But even then, I used tfc to get my character in the center of the screen and it did not look like what you're showing me, her body's proportions were pretty out there when I looked. That's really strange. Maybe I messed up something with the install? Though I don't see how that's possible, I used the FOMOD installer.
Solidsnake33094
I'm not against body replacers either, not the nude ones or anything. I used Robert's replacers in Oblivion and still do to this day and for some reason I found them to be much better looking in that game.
MarchUntoTorment
I use Type3 non-nude, and tried to use Breeze's (let's say that it... didn't work out), and I've used Robert's previously. I personally think the meshes look MUCH more natural than the default low-poly, poorly-mapped models. It may well be your FOV that's screwing with their appearances, because they look fine to me. I'll admit that they look absurdly idealised, but how many video games don't? While we'd all love to see a randomised body replacer that gave everyone separate body shapes, it's not going to happen (for a range of reasons).
