olisparx
hiyaaa :) for some reason when i download and install a mod it doesn't show in game. i've checked everywhere for people who have been having the same problems but the only replies they seem to be getting are"are you sure you have installed the mod properly, you must have done it wrong.' i am CERTAIN i am installing the mods correctly. i've been playing oblivion since it came out and have previously installed mods and they have worked perfectly. i stopped downloading mods for about half a year when i stopped playing the game for a while.my computer has recently been wiped because of a virus and i decided to restart oblivion. the only mod that works in my game now is rens mystic elf/beauty pack mod. i've downloaded multiple armor, mounts and house mods and they show up in data files where i tick the box but then do not appear in the game. any help any of you could give me would be amazing, i'm so confused! please do not tell my i am installing them wrong though. i have tried both manual and obmm. thanks! xo
Tomlong54210
Make sure you have the game patched to the latest version (if you are not already using the GOTY edition.) Are you using OBMM to install your mods? If so, make sure "BSA Redirection" is set in Utilities > Archive invalidation. If not, I highly recommend it. Have you changed the Windows?if yes and it's Vista or 7 that is a known issue when the game is installed in the default C:\Program Files folder. Avoid installing any game there, for concision create a folder like C:\Games and install there. Other than that, assuming you download OBMM follow the previous (tomlong54210's) post advise. If not, download it ASAP and use it to activate mods, avoid using the Oblivion_launcher afterwards. Probably you'll install OBSE or already did, in this case you CAN'T use the launcher anymore, delete it's shortcut from the desktop to avoid forever corrupted saved games and always start from the obse_loader.exe.PS: that implies you should avoid starting the game from the DVD autorun too. Please report if the issues persists... ahh, and please report if the issue is gone, believe it, that information is useful
bben46
As Noisab said, if you have Vista or Win7 it's not a good idea to install to the default location. The reason is this is a protected location to keep you from making inadvertent changes or to keep malware from making unwanted changes. Vista and Win7 have a security feature that XP dosn't called UAC (User Account Control) what it does is prevent any changes to any program installed in the Program files or program files(x86) folders. You can get around that by either manually adisabling the UAC, but that opens the door for any virus that manages to sneak in passed your antivirus program. Not a very good idea. Or you can reinstall Oblivion (and any other games that can be modded) into a new folder outside of the program files folders. Most people are creating a C;\Games folder, then another subfolder for each game so for Oblivion C:\Games\Oblivion. then uninstall the game and reinstall it there. If you are unsure or have a problem reinstalling.
