Retribution
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36981179?GT1=43001 Ridiculous. Do you think it's right?
antonkr
Was reading just now. My opinion: We Americans don't mind you coming here. We don't care if you put up a Mexican or any kind of flag on your backyard but DON'T F*** with our traditions. If we want to wear an American flag its OUR country and we have a right to do it. We wouldn't not allow you to wear a shirt with a Mexican or any kind of flag, so don't not allow us. Please don't take my post too seriously, I am an immigrant myself and thats what I would feel if I was an American.
RedVexHK
I'm a Canadian.. happy and proud to be one.. If this happened here I'd feel ashamed..I understand it was Mexican Holiday... that is all good and fine.. but this was IN AMERICA! not Mexico. They have a right to their holiday, their wish for Mexican colors to be displayed. HOWEVER! it is a Mexican Holiday held IN AMERICA!!! NOT MEXICO! To feel wearing the emblem of your country is an offense to these people and their holiday is to say and I do not mean this lightly..is to blatantly deny you ARE AMERICAN or even have pride in the country you live in. As a Canadian.. this issue was recently faced in one of our elementary schools when the playing of the national anthem was banned during morning assembly because it was deemed offensive to other ethnic groups ... this caused an incredible outrage and the anthem was reinstated. to be an American of any nationality and be party to such a travesty as that would deeply shame me.Those people should be ashamed . I hope I've not offended anyone but I stand by Patriotism to the country you call home.. NOT the country you came from... Celebrating your heritage is fine.. celebrating it in a manner defiant of your adopted country is an insult.
roguim
Political correctness being more and more ridicule... Imagine if in mexico some mexivan students would be forbiden to use a t-shirt with mexican flag because some american students dislike it... probably the Americans would be bashed as an "bunch of imperialist that want to destroy other country tradition" . They are American students in their Country so they have all the rights to use and t-shirt with their country flag anyplace anytime.
overload1977
wow i guess the world is going mad , it would have been better if the vice principal went to a shopping mall and got them new T-shirts, lol but at lest they got a day off school , i myself would not care what flag you had on, i'm always wearing stuff with the st george cross flag on, i would have understand if i was a Nazi sign or something like that... LHammonds
Just the local administration being stupid. The district administration did not agree with them so the boys were allowed to return. I loved the comment one person said about how they would not "disrespect" the 4th of July by wearing a Mexican flag. Hello!?!?! This is the "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." Would anyone feel dis-respected if somebody was wearing a Mexican flag in the capitol of Mexico on July 4th? It is just plain stupid. This reminds me of a funny. Aurielius
This is an an example of political correctness run amok. In an effort to offend no one, the principle managed to offend every man and woman who gave their all to preserve our freedoms. I always believed that the US stood for of the right of free speech, which this most definitely falls under. Where is the ACLU when we need them? This reminds me of a funny. "Common Sense...so rare, it is considered a super power"-LHammndsUnfortunate but all too true, sounds very like a modern Mark Twain, whose quote? bben46
Based on this reasoning, Students would not be allowed to wear an American Flag on any countries big holidays, such as St. Patric's Day, Bastille day, Canada Day, May Day and about a hundred more. So what day are they allowed to wear THEIR flag? BTW, Cinco de Mayo is not a major Mexican holiday. In fact, it is not a holiday in Mexico at all. It is an American excuse to party. Mexican Independence day is celebrated Sept 16th. Another example of political correctness gone amuck. I doubt if that school official could even tell you what Cinco de Mayo is. It is the day a Mexican army defeated a French army in a battle fought in Puebla (where it is a local holiday) Kind or like the Battle of Bunker Hill in the US. (Which the Brits won and it was fought mostly on Breeds Hill, Not Bunker Hill)
Corlan
If you think that is ridiculous you should have seen Tehran before Last years presidental Elections, three of my friends got kicked out of school for three days for wearing green, and that was before the Elections, when Advertising and supporting was free everywhere. Though as long as something is not political you can do whatever you want here, I have a T-Shirt that has America's flag on it, I wear it every day and go to school with it, even on the 22nd of Bahman witch is the Revolution Day or something. Pyrosocial
I think this completely stupid. A lot of good people gave their lives for that flag and a school is going to send home students because they wore clothing with flags on them? The only thing this can be called is sad. what is this country coming to? (this would be a good topic for the debates forum)
