brokenergy
Here is Brokenergy's list of the best games of the recent decades 10. Rome:Total War: had hours of fun crushing my enemies 9. Morrowind: The best out of the entire series 8. Age of Empires: My first game and one of my favorite 7. Mass Effect 1&2: Great games, tons of fun 6. Dragon Age:Origins: One of the best cRPG games of the decade, on par with other with it's genre. 5. Dungeon Siege: I had hours of fun before people ruined it with cheating 4. Fallout: A great game, loved every minute of it 3. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2: The best of the D&D series 2. Planescape Torment: Could not get enough of it 1. Wizards & Warriors (Last of the Wizardry series): I have played this game so many times that I know the game by heart. It is great game that I love and the only game that I could not finish (computer wouldn't accept as the graphics card and processor are too high). It has it's problems (like all games) but I didn't mind it much. There was so many things to do in there and so many places to explore. I loved it a lot. It was hard to make this list and this is just a subjective view of the best games out there. There are some people that would disagree with me but that is another tale to tell. LHammonds
I gave this much thought and here is my personal top 10 list. Most made it to this list because I would still play them to this very day. Battlefield 1942 (2002) - The kind of game I wanted to play for 10 years! The game engine spawned many other games I liked (Star Wars Battlefront!) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_1942 Total Annihilation (1997) - A great RTS that had tons of mods and can still be played today with just as much fun. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_annihilation Deus Ex (2000) - Very fun game that allowed multiple ways of accomplishing your goals (attack vs stealth, etc.) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_ex Thief ][: The Metal Age (2000) - An awesome game of stealth that really has not seen its equal. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thief_2 Age of Empires ][: The Age of Kings (1999) - This game engine spawned many games I liked (e.g. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds)...also does not require 3D acceleration which allowed me to play on laptops during long flights. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Empires:_The_Age_of_Kings XCOM: UFO Defense (1994) - Great depth for research, loadouts and fighting aliens. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFO:_Enemy_Unknown The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (1996) - An RPG game featuring swords, bows and armor; a great combination in my book. Oh, almost forgot to mention that you can mod it a little bit. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_IV:_Oblivion Rome: Total War (2004) - Awesome command power at the strategic and tactical levels. I love being able to defeat an enemy much larger than me by using my forces wisely. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rome_total_war Halo: Combat Evolved (2001) - Best game for the original XBOX. What else can I say. (oh, don't bother with the PC version...yuck) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_combat_evolved Quake ][ (1997) - The reason for so many lan parties that I attened while in college. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quake_II Here are the runners up that I had to weed out of my top list: Operation Flashpoint (2001) - 1st realistic-feeling war game I've played.Unreal Tournament (1999) - Lanparty fun without need for 3D GFX card.Soul Calibur (1999) - Bought the Dreamcast just for this game (to avoid going down to the arcade)Descent II (1996) - Another great Lanparty game.Warcraft ][: Tides of Darkness (1995)DooM ][: Hell on Earth (1994) - Wasted much lab time at the UniStar Wars Tie Fighter (1994) - Put the "awe" in awesome.Syndicate (1993)Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty (1992) - My 1st RTS game which was based on an awesome movie.Wing Commander ][: Vengeance of the Kilrathi (1991) - Whole series was great.
