bben46
This can also be caused by having an active infrared device on the computer. Not a problem on most desk tops, but common on Laptops and media center PCs. Disable IR to allow Consolehttp://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=

Tomlong54210
Win7 users really, really should not install to that folder. There are numerous problems related to that.
bben46
How is the keyboard linked to the IR?Currently I don't have access to a Win7 Laptop to look. But in every other laptop, the IR was either listed in with com ports or alone. There should be no reason to link it to the keyboard Except in the case of an older system I remember that had a removable keyboard that was linked to the system by IR. That was the PC Jr, about 15 years ago. I hope HP isn't making the same dumb mistake that IBM did. That IR keyboard killed the jr. It would drop out constantly, anything that got between the Keyboard and system caused a drop out. If you moved the keyboard around just a little it dropped out. You had to maintain a constant line of sight between the KB and system. Then about half the time when it did drop you had to reboot to get the KB back. I think it was only sold for about a year before it was discontinued.
