rwross
Having a bit of a problem with my CM sleep package...looked around but found now answers. First, my CM Partner would execute the sleep package, but remain in full armour. When I added clothing items to the inventory, then the sleep package swapped out armor for clothes EXCEPT for the armored boots and gloves. No matter what I do, I can't get the boots and gloves to swap. The last Companion I used was years ago, Neeshka, and it was more simplistic with a Gear mode and a Casual Mode for armor and clothes respectively. If there were no clothes in inventory, then it just reverted to the base texture like Exnem_Undies in my case. Is there anyway to get CM Partners to act similarly. Currently with no clothes in inventory, the CM Partner sleeps in full armor. With a full set of clothes, she sleeps in the provided clothes except for boots and gloves. MichikoUnknownFox
Does it always happen, no matter when and where you sleep? Cuz sometimes taking them through a loading door or to a new cell can fix problems with their inventories. Sometimes. Like if they insist on using a weaker weapon in their inventory that they looted rather than the super enchanted sword you got from a boss bandit... This is something that can happen to any kind of NPC, it seems, not just CM Partners. Sometimes NPCs will refuse to wear armor in combat, if they have clothing in their inventory. I've had troubles with my NPC companion (added to my party via Companion Share & Recruit) refusing to wear the armor I gave her, and instead wearing the vanilla middle class shirt that was also in her inventory. If I remove the shirt from her inventory, she'll wear the armor. This should be similar to your problem. The CM Partners mod has no errors in its AI Packages, if that's what you're suspecting (I know, I checked and even made patch mods to add more package types). In other words, the weirdness of Oblivion's AI system is to blame. I haven't found a clear solution, but some people suggest renaming the clothing/armor to list higher alphabetically (like "aaaadress" just to make sure it's listed before "Armor of Strength", for example). I haven't tried it, so I can't verify. This renamer mod can help you do it without having to waste Soul Gems and money on Enchanting, if you wanna try. rwross
Good advice...I'll try different cells as I haven't tried that yet. I really wanted to confirm what the expected CM partner behavior was with respect to the sleep package and I think you've done that, but let me be sure. If the CM Partner was behaving as designed, it would: Exchange Armour for clothes in all slots when sleeping orExchange Armour for naked (base texture) in all slots when sleeping if no clothes provided Is that right? tks,rwr Does it always happen, no matter when and where you sleep? MichikoUnknownFox
Well the sleep package used by CM Partners has armor and weapon unequipped, though I have seen NPCs go to bed with full armor on (but they always seem to unequip weapons). Sometimes, if you wake them up by talking to them, after your conversation they'll switch to clothes or get naked, depending on if they have any clothes in their inventory or not. Again, it only happens sometimes, as I've tested by repeatedly waking an NPC up this way. The way it works is that Oblivion sets NPCs to choose available clothing in their inventory when they unequip armor. If there is no clothing in the inventory, the NPC will go naked. At least, that's how it's supposed to work. Sometimes bugs happen, and even if the NPC has clothes in their inventory, for example, they can still go around naked, or at least not wearing one or two items, like shoes or a shirt. You can see this bug sometimes if you have NPC-adding mods like Crowded Cities. Some of the generic added NPCs might not be wearing pants/a skirt, but if you check their inventory, they really have pants or a skirt in there. They'll equip it properly if you select them in the console and force them to reload via the resurrect command. That could provide some insight to more knowledgeable people as to what could be blocking the NPCs from dressing up properly. I suspect something's interfering with the natural function, but it could simply be too many mods working at the same time as a cell loads, which wouldn't surprise me in my game. In addition, note that even if it seems to happen to any NPC, it doesn't seem to happen to vanilla NPCs unless you tinker with them using a mod, such as Share & Recruit. I've seen it happen to Bandits, though. A Bandit wasn't wearing any pants. At first I thought I was getting the infamous Fran's Caliper Bug again, but I noticed that everybody else in the same Bandit cave was dressed properly, and he was wearing various light armors for his upper body and feet. I checked the corpse and he had Fur pants in there. I guess he just forgot to put it on, in the excitement of battle... o_o
rwross
Bummer...well, I've tried all sorts of cells. For whatever reason, my partner refuses to exchange the armor gauntlets for bare hands or armor boots for shoes. Any other ideas?
rwross
oh...and upon waking up the CM partner, she doesn't put on armor...just stays in sleep clothes for all but boots and hands which, as mentioned before, have armor on them.
MichikoUnknownFox
Well you could try resurrecting the partner. Remember to take all equipment and items you don't want to lose first. Resurrecting will cause them to reload things like scripts, packages and inventory lists. An even more extreme approach would be to uninstall CM Partners (and that partner, if it comes from a different mod), saving (a.k.a. "clean saving"; I recommend you save to a new file rather than overwrite your main save file) and then reinstalling CM Partners (and the particular partner's mod, again if it's separate). You'll have to go back to where you first met her and recruit her again. Just give her back the equipment you took from her and everything will be fine. They level up with you anyway so it's not like they lose stats or levels or anything. For me, that works most of the time. It's a bit of a hassle, but if it really bugs you that much, it may be worth a try. If it still doesn't work, the last thing you could try is just remove things you don't want them to wear from their inventory before telling them to sleep. It's not really a solution, but again, if it bugs you that much... It's all up to you.
