Dusty7777
Using the construction set, I have created a new creature list containing 3 Black Bears and 3 Brown Bears. I named it aaCreaturePackBlackandBrownBearsList. I placed this list in LL1WildernessForest. I deleted all other animal lists because I wanted to test this mod out first to see if it worked. Well, I have found it does work BUT only spawns EITHER black OR brown bears, NOT Both. I.e. I wanted a mix of black and brown bears, say, 1 brown bear and 2 black, or visa versa, but it just isn't happening. All that happens is I get either one set of black, or one set of brown. I really can't find any solution as to why this is happening and it has had me stumped for over a week now. No one I have spoken to has any answers so I am hoping there is someone here who is an expert at modding to help me out. Thank you for listening, Dusty
MichikoUnknownFox
The way I do it, I would make at least 2 leveled lists: one for each kind of bear (and any other creature you may want to spawn with them in the future). Just have them spawn in the same area. Each leveled list will have its own chance (the "Chance None" option). My preference would be 50% each. You may want to adjust this to your liking. The lower the number, the more chance that bears (of any number) will spawn in that area. Since leveled lists like that are supposed to pick one item from all of the possibilities you put in there, you should put three items and then edit their Count value. So to achieve what you want, place the Brown Bear in the list three times, and edit each entry's Count value so it shows up like this: 1 CreatureBearBrown 2 CreatureBearBrown 3 CreatureBearBrown This way, the game will now choose whether to spawn 1, 2 or 3 Brown Bears. Now do the same thing for the Black Bear list. The results using my preferences will be a 50% chance per leveled list to spawn bears. If bears get spawned from either list, it might be 1, 2 or 3 bears, hence you'll be able to see your 1 Brown Bear, 3 Black Bear possible matchups. :) Enjoy! - edit: Additional info! If you want it to be more likely for a certain number of bears to spawn, simply add more bears of that number to the same leveled list. For example, you want it to be more likely that 2 Brown Bears spawn together, and 1 Brown Bear or 3 Brown Bears in the same spawn point should be more rare, then simply add more Brown Bear entries that have a Count value of 2. The game will randomly pick from the list, kinda like closing your eyes and pointing at a random name from the phonebook. The more entries there are for a certain number of bears, the more likely it is that it'll land on one of those entries. :)
David Brasher
I don't like to use numbers higher than 1 in my leveled lists for the very reason you describe. I don't want three identical enemies attacking me. I want variety. So I use lots and lots of spawn points in a cluster. I also like to have a really high delta. It makes it really random so I don't know what I will encounter. So if I wanted there to be about four bandits in an area, I might put in 12 spawn points with 25% chance of appearing. I could end up with anywhere from 0-12 bandits with an average of 4. It also has the cool effect of making it so areas are never really cleaned out. The first day I go there, 0-12 bandits show up. Lets say 4 appear. I kill them. The next day I have to go back that way, and 0-8 bandits will appear. I love it!
MichikoUnknownFox
Yeah that's exactly what you should do. If it's just creatures like Bears and Wolves with a single model and no actual appearance differences, my simple method should suffice. I typically use the method mentioned by David Brasher, though, because I like variety, including the off chances of having 10 bandits in a small room, or possibly none at all.
