Keanumoreira
"Hello and welcome to the enrichment center" is amoung the first words to be heard when playing Valve's famous Portal. Portal players know that this welcome is flawed, as well as one key promise that has players go in an uproar, the promise of cake. Chell never gets any since GLADOS tries so hard to kill her, and is assumed this cake thing is just a lure. However, at the end of the game, there is revealed to have been cake, or has it? Fans of the series conclude it isn't real, that the cake at the end is just a trick to lure in test subjects. But if it's fake, then why is it so heavily hinted on? So what's there not to believe? Ethre
I took advantage of the free Steam dealie to play Portal this weekend. :) Quite an interesting game I must say. Personally, I think the cake wasn't necessarily a real cake - more of a metaphor. It doesn't really matter whether it exists or not, because the idea that it exists is enough to have an impact and affect individuals actions. Kind of like heaven/salvation in a way - because you never really have concrete proof that it does, or does not, exist. Does that make any sense? (I do not mean to make this into a religious debate)
evilneko
All cake is lies. Unless it is cookie cake. Then it is ULTIMATE TRUTH. Of what, I don't know.

Vagrant0
The cake is not a lie. If you turn on clipping mode you can see it in the same level that you see it on the monitor. It may be made of cardboard, stale cardboard at that, and you have to cheat in order to get to it, but it's not a lie. :) Edited May 18, 2010 by Vagrant0
