I-forgot-to-save-and-died-rage moments

I'm sure I'm not the only one that forgets to save for a LONG time, then either dies or suffers one of Oblivion's famous crashes ( :verymad: ). So, tell us all about your endeavours and how you met your (unsaved) fate.

Well, I was just cleaning the pools of madness (Shivering Isles, 2nd last quest I think, where you endow Sheogorath's staff) and I got through the thing alright, purified the Pool of Mania, blahblahblah, fought through the rest of the dungeon, up until I came up to the Pool of Dementia.

*Oblivion has stopped working.*

*...FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU*

Lol. XD

Yeah, this often happens to me, even in other games. The moment where I got REALLY when I had to kill the last champion in the arena. I died. I forgot to save, but I luckily found the auto-save file. Which only made me crash. I had to kill EVERYONE from the beginning (who do you think used tgm? :P)

I think I got so angry that I tossed an apple at my little sister :P

(No worries, no one got hurt)

I was playing the last mission at DA (And if you havent realised this contains spoilers) and I had killed all the darkspawn generals. Then I went to the place you can go to the last boss. AND of course I had to miss how much my character had HP left, and then... I died... And when my main char dies, everyone in my team epicly fails. After that I choosed continue game and... It started the last mission all over to the beginning. At the next day i had to buy a new xbox controller.

THE TEXT BELOW IS COPIED FROM ANOTHER SIMILAR THREAD:

"Months ago, it was nice and sunny sunday, I was excited to enter Shivering Isles with my second character while drinking the best coffee I have ever made. I was free to play Oblivion for more than 5 hours.

First I entered Isles, came all the way to Palace. Sheogorath tasked me to fix Xedilian for unvanted visitors. I was enjoying doing the job and I even returned for more! Then he sent to meet the greatest nobles of the realm. I done what has to be done and decided to report my success to Lord Sheogorath. While entering Palace, I experienced common CTD crash. "Ok then, I will load my last saved game". I said. First, I tried to load autosave, but it was broken. Being the jerk I am, last time I saved was right in front of Gate to Shivering Isles !! I was so mad!!

I haven't played Oblivion for two days after that. Then I decided to save/quicksave my gave every 10-15 minutes. I will NEVER forget this bug, never... "

this wont save you from crashes, and will inadvertantly cause more than a few, but I know a little trick which i call lich mode, if you die, while you are ragdolling, hit the satan key of evil, ~ and click yourself, type resurrect and enter, exit console. wait 3 minutes realtime, and ~ click yourself and click resurrect again, this will give you a chance at instant revenge! but beware, as you'll lose ALL permanents status effects, lesser and greater Powers, and will be in a state that you probably shouldnt attempt to keep playing afterwoulds in, in that you'll permanantly harm camera placement for first person(it moves to your ankles), but hey, you get to return as a zombie-you! so how is that not fun!, lastly, if you are going to die AGAIN! save n exit, this trick only works once per boot sequence!

One day while I was shopping for mods here at the Nexus, I came across one purely by accident that I have had a love-hate relationship with ever since. It's a very simple mod. It replaces the game's normal death sound effects with the "splat" sound that plays when you die in the original Super Mario Brothers Nintendo game.

Normally I take my character's deaths fairly calmly and simply retreat to an earlier save. Something about hearing that sound, though, really pisses me off, especially if it was a cheap death. Maybe I'm channeling all the frustration from playing Mario where, if you die, you have to play that stage all over again from the beginning. It feels like it's mocking me. Why do I not just stop using the mod? I dunno... it's funny, it's stupid, it's nostalgic. And maybe somewhere I think to myself that if I hear that sound I probably really SHOULD be feeling like someone just slapped me upside the head, because lately I'm playing with a CM Partner who is like 20 levels above me and the only possible way for me to die is my own sheer stupidity.

The worst part about it is the fact that even though my dad hasn't touched a video game since the Super Nintendo came out and my sister never gamed at all, my entire family still recognizes that sound (though they're not quite sure how or why it's gotten into my "game with all that beautiful scenery") and knows what it means, so now whenever I get splatted, they all have to come running to see the screen and laugh at my ragdolling corpse.
