rez194
Pronam, you own this thread. After uninstalling everything (after digging I found that I had missed some old installs in other directories), I restarted my computer and followed the installation instructions you linked me to. Although the debug panel STILL shows the same errors, I suddenly had access to importing the NIF script and can now load meshes. Thank you for all your help. Now its bedtime lol
Argomirr
The best place to ask may be the Blender Artists forums; that's where all the Blender gurus hang out. Before anyone flames me, I HAVE posted this issue on the BlenderArtists.org forums. I'm just trying to cover any bases that may expedite a response. Thank you in advance for any help.Well, looks like he already did......apparently.Whoops! I need to learn to read threads before replying.

rez194
Blender has been running wonderfully all day. Until about 20 minutes ago. I don't seem to have UV Face Select mode available. Following the "Blender/Creature Meshes 101" guide on TES Construction Set Wiki, I am required to use this option to apply a texture to my mesh. Is there a plugin I need to download somewhere? I'm really sorry to keep buggin you guys, but honestly you're probably going to keep seeing me just because you guys really know your stuff and you always respond quickly :) Thanks again. LHammonds
That tutorial is probably a bit out-dated. The UV Face layout has been changed to be more integrated. When version 2.5 is released, a LOT of the tutorials written for blender will not be step-for-step anymore since the graphical user interface is getting an overhaul...but you will still be able to perform the same tasks...just in a slightly different way. What you need to do in Blender 2.49b is this: Split the 3D viewport area so you have two window panes...one left, the other right. On the right pane, click the bottom-left button that changes the window type from "3D View" to "UV/Image Editor"When you select your model on the left pane (3D view) and go into Edit Mode (tab), you can then select everything to see the UV Map in the UV pane.If there is nothing there and should be, try zooming in or out.If there is not a UV Map, you can begin the unwrap process and see the results on the UV pane. Example: While in Edit Mode of your mesh, select all vertices, press U, select "Project From View" and your model will show up like a wireframe view on the right pane (UV editor). You might want to review this tutorial which covers the exact same I mentioned above: Blender Video Tutorial: Adding Textures LHammonds
rez194
For anyone reading this for their own benefit, I found this post from a Blender director at Blender Underground: "UV Face Select mode might very well be a welcome omission from the latest Blender SVN. Although there were some useful features in that mode (ALT right click for Seam Marking) I think it's better the way it is. Edit mode is the new Face Select mode. Since I often worked in Edit mode for UV faces anyway, this is going to be a welcome change, I think. The U key is still the unwrap menu, but now I'm not fiddling with an extra mode to unwrap faces. How does it work? In a separate pane, choose the UV/Image editor. TAB into edit mode for your model, mark your seams with CTRL+E, select all faces, and press U for the Unwrap menu. It all still works, and no extra 'mode.'" Seems to work fine, just makes the tutorials a little more difficult to follow ;)
