Changing sounds associated with animations?

Please forgive me if the answer's obvious...

 

For the better part of the last several days, I've been trying to figure out how to change the sounds that the Reaver makes, and only the Reaver. I'm fine with the hissing sounds that the other ghouls make, but they always seemed a bit weak for the Reaver, so I wanted him to sound truly pants-crap-inducing when he spots the player, while keeping the vanilla sounds for the other ghouls.

 

I've successfully added the new sounds in GECK, but I can't figure out how to change the sounds associated with the animations on the creature's Animation tab. Changing the contents of the Sounds tab for the creature does squat, because the sound played when he spots me in the game isn't the one on the Sounds tab (my new NPCFeralGhoulReaverAware sound) but the one associated with the h2hequip.kf animation on the Animation tab under Group Sound Properties (NPCFeralGhoulAware). All I seem to be able to change here is the animation frame at which the sound starts playing. Is this setting changed somewhere else in the GECK and I'm just missing it, or is the sound reference stored in the kf file?
