Lich King Armour

Arrun

Recommended Posts

hi there!

I'm totally new to the foruns and modding, so i am not sure if this has already been requested, but, please would it be possible to make the Plate of the Damned + the Helm of Dominion ? (ie the Armour of the Lich King.)

It just strikes me as something being really awesome to do :) Perhaps if worn in a set with the already completed frostmourne sword, talents and spells cost less to activate?

IDK, just an idea!

Thanks, appreciated!

@darkewolf

Really? how would one go about it? Does it involve toolset and all that stuff?

Aye, I'm curious as well (because i'm a noob lol)

But i am very happy to hear it can be accomplished. I'm guessing the tool-set is similar to Maya, so pretty much anything can be made?

Hoping to find a modder out there willing to make the coolest looking armour ever in fantasy : )

No, the toolset isnt like maya. Its mostly just a way of editing, creating, and adding files that the game can see. Tho some of those files do include the creation of buildings, cutscenes, creating custom tinting schemes, custom morphs for faces, and some other stuff, but it won't do any actual modeling.

the real work for the conversion would need to be done in a 3d program like Maya, 3dsmax, max, blender, or similar 3d editing program. the bones and rigging that DA uses would have to be worked into the mesh, and then the whole thing would need to be converted to .msh format (which unfortunately.... we only have a script that can do that in 3dsmax/max, blender and lightwave. There is a script that can add the compatibility to maya, tho I have no feedback on how well it works.

and then would come the part of using the toolset to create the stats and the required files necessary for the game to implement the new models. Unfortunately, that part right there can be very difficult to follow along with how to do. Which is why a lot of modders make it so that some items simply overwrite another item.

Now, I say all this, but I DO wanna mention that for the most part, its all only information that I've read. I dunno how to use 3d programs, or create those mda and whatnot files in the toolset. :unsure:

Edit- I also wanna mention that the cloak might not be doable. The cape slot was implemented, but never used. Therefor we have no bones, rigging, or animations for one. It might, it might not. I dont know if somebody with enough knowledge and talent could make the toolset & game see the new animations for a cloak or not.

Edit2- I also need to mention that anybody that took the project up, would have to obtain permission to use, and distribute the oblivion meshes, as well as credit them for their work as authors, or else they'd be in violation of the nexus upload rules and would end up getting banned if they uploaded them here without that.

@Vampire Dante

Hm...i believe this is in the wrong section. We're talking about mods for dragon age here haha.

Didn't notice, I'm used to people asking about it for Oblivion I didn't check what section this was... Plus I clicked it from that 'recently added topics' thing - doesn't tell you which section the post is from.

As said though, permissions given I suppose someone could convert it over to Dragon Age. A lot of work, but if enough interest was shown someone might feel up to the task.

Ahh ok i understand, so the tool set is more of a recycle and stat program, rather than an actual 'from scratch' modeling program.

On your other point however, someone did receive permission from Jojjo to convert his Oblivion Frostmourne, so perhaps gaining permission from him wouldn't be too difficult, provided of course he is credited for it as his original astounding work ;) And your point on the cloak, personally i wouldnt bother attempting to make it an actual piece of armour, could just make it part of the Breastplate?
