Fallout 3 Steam Version CTD on launch.

I Just recently bought Fallout 3 GOTY edition from Steam (you know the story, it was dirt cheap) but I can't get it to load now. After trying to run it with the FOSE I kept getting CTDs, and on further inspection, it crashes even when booted straight from the fallout 3 exe. :/

I haven't tried it through steam, but it used to work retail. Definately can run though.

you've installed the steam version of the game

Correct, however it doesn't work via the steam launcher either.

well, there is a problem in the load order

you can see that a file is missing, the main EVE file, EVE.esp, so you need to get it for the other files to work

now, i'm not quite sure what the "This mod does not exist in the current template" and "The current load order of this mod does not match the current template" messeges mean, care to explain??

finally, try using FO3Edit to spot any conflicts, and do a MasterUpdate just in case, it does no harm, and it helps alot

not sure if it will work with a steam version, never used steam.....

I uninstalled the game completely and reinstalled only to find that the problem still persists.

 

But, after deleting the Fallout 3 folder in my documents the game suddenly runs fine. =D

I had the same exact problem as you, I installed fallout 3 through steam and DL'd a bunch of mods to use and then it just wouldn't launch when I started it up.. never found out why though I suspect it may be because the windows live disabler didn't move my dlc out of the folder properly.. I don't know.. I reinstalled and moved them out myself and it worked perfectly with all of my mods.
