nick6666
Just an idea, if somebody could create a mod that would let your companions, or Guards from several Castle mods form formations around you or not and be able to move while in these positions.I completly understand if this is an impossible mod because of the amount of animations and scripting that would be required, but it's just an idea
Raathas
I love the idea, its like being a general of an army! :DIf it could work, it would be fun - but you would only get so many commands I.E: - Stay Here- Defence Formation- Attack Formation Et cetera.. Unless you could intergrate a system similar to rainbow six games, like hold down shift and click on an area on the map, then they move... that would be good, but then the criticisms to that would be that it would be making too much of a First-person shooter, or a tactical warfare game.. Meh, just a thought.
LHammonds
This topic came up while developing the Spartan 300 mod and it was theorized at one point that (with enough scripting) x markers could be used and set to the formations in the area(s) you wish and then have each NPC set to follow an x marker. It never went beyond theory though. LHammonds
nick6666
Shame though, I would have an attempt myself, but i have limited knowledge on modding, but if you know if anybody would be interested at at least attempting it.
LHammonds
Well, scripting will only get you so far. Having a row of x markers is not too difficult. Getting your NPCs to stand in those places and then all face a certain direction to make it look good would probably involve a lot of math and extra functions not in vanilla Oblivion scripting (read OBSE). I am not sure who could even do this and pull it off well....not to mention being CPU-friendly. Anyone who could do this fairly well would get high praise from the community. ub3rman123
What formation do followers take by default in the game? Just wandering along on pathnodes behind the player? There would have to be some thing to override pathgrids. Otherwise the formations would be somewhat jumbled as all the followers leap to the nearest node. Or does setting them to find an XMarker override that anyways?
