Hey every1.

I am new to the use of GECK and have run in to some problems so I hope there is some1 who can give me a hint to what I am missing to get my cell to display correct. Normally I would use the GECK site for assisastance, but I am for some reason not able to log to the site O.o

Any way here are my problems:

Missing ceiling, but only in some areas

First question is did you duplicate a cell or create a new one to build in. If you duplicated a vault there may be room bounds an portals which are clipping your view distance. Another thought would be to tweak your lighting templet. I was working on a large cell and had to change the far fog distance to be able to see all the way down to the end of the hall.

when you walk into the black void does it start to render?

On the subject of missing ceilings, do they show up in the GECK? My first thought is that you used the wrong peace which may have a high ceiling or none at all.

I don't mean to sound rude but the images you've uploaded are really dark and I'm having trouble seeing your issues. If you could upload some brighter ones I may be able to get a clearer idea of whats causing your issues.

Yes I duplicated a cell from one of my favorite mods, because I was so happy with the layout of that particular vault and just wanted to expand it with some of the features I want to implement as part of a personal project I am working on. I did run a thorough cleaning in the cell's objects, removing elements I wasn't gonna be needing, but maybe I have missed one or two items.

The lighting template is still causing me allot of headache, even though I read the beginners guide on GECK, I just can't seem to figure it out, or my attention span is just not high enough atm  . Honestly I'm not quite sure what you mean with the "far fog distance" , as said, I'm still rather noob to this tool hehe :P .

With regards to the black voids, yes as soon as I walk through it, the area will render, but when you look back, the other side is now gone hehe

With the missing ceiling, it does show up in GECK, but only when you look at it from below, which I assume is the way that it is meant to be when using ceiling sections. The walls I have used have a ceiling section as part of the piece, but the rest of the ceiling is made from single ceiling sections "snapped" together, but neither the ceiling attached to the wall sections or the single ceiling tiles are showing. The funny part is that as I was looking, from one of the "black voids" in another room (in-game), I could actually see the missing ceiling in the hangar, and it was showing up perfectly, but as soon as I walked through the void to get a closer look, it was missing again :pinch:

Another thing, I'm not sure if this has any meaning, but as the objects from FO3 dosen't seem to have any large hangar "doors" for ceilings, I had to build it from scratch, which means I had to add some sections with out the "snap" (height wise) to create the elevation differance between the main ceiling and the hangar door, the sections used to make the door was however snapped togeather, as said I'm not sure if it has any relevance, you never know

(The entire Hangar, which is the room with the ceiling problem in question, is about 11 x 11 tiles, if it has any relevance)

As for the pictures, nah you're not rude  , they are rather shitty, as I had trouble with getting the lighting right, I shot them with NVGs on  , I will try and see if I can throw some temp lighting into the mix, so I can better show the problem

Btw thx for the reply, I really appreciate the help

---EDIT---

Btw now that I've got my hands on a pro

I have tried to search the GECK site for information on weather or not you can import / export object collections from one plugin to another, but havn't been able to find anything on the matter, can you tell me if it is possible to do so?

To explain further what I had in mind:

I have made a collection of some object which makes up a vihcle that looks fully functionel, no moving parts or anything, but it looks as if its a working machine (RPG wise), but I have made it in a plugin that has some errors in it, so I would like to be able to create a new plugin for the viehcle alone without having to build the whole thing from scratch again, hence the import / export question

Okay now I'm completely baffled

Logged in to the game to take some new screens of the problem, only to find that they were gone

The only thing I changed was adding some light to one of the rooms with the "black void" to get a better screen, but how can that affect everything else  , even the corridors in the opposite end of the cell doesn't have any "voids" either anymore, I have no idea what's happened

Sorry to have wasted you time m8ie  , though if you have any insight on what might have caused both the voids and the change, I'd much appreciate it

Oh and if you have an answer for my import / export question, I would still really like to know if it's possible to do it

Well it's good that your problem is fixed, it may just have ben from not having enough lights in the cell. but that doesn't explain the missing ceiling tiles.

I'm not entirely sure what fixed it with luck it won't repeat itself.

Importing things from another plugin is a little complicated and, simple at the same time. It's a matter of getting your head around the process.

first you'll need both FO3edit and FO3 Plugin.

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=637

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5104

First open the plugin you want to take items from with FO3 edit, apply filter identical to master. Once that is done all changes you've made will show up as green, go through and manually delete all unwanted changes leaving you only the cell or forms you want to keep,

save and close FO3edit.

Next open FO3 plugin, load up the esp you want to merge your items into. Go to Edit, merge plugins, select the one you've cleaned to only contain wanted items. It will automatically merge them.

SAVE, Done and Done.

Just to be safe make sure you backup both plugins before you attempt this.

You may want to grab "Fallout3 Training Manual for FO3Edit" if your not familiar with the program.

No trouble, Just to be clear when deleting In FO3edit you want to end up with only the header and the cell, form or, want to merge. this will make sure it is as clean as possible.
